Default 1964 Marusin: Pics and commentary

Interesting machine restored for client. 1964 Marusin. Set-up to play is a bit annoying. Once you load the upper hopper and reset the seesaw (via spring loaded lever), you have to trigger a "false" jackpot to get it to load the center reservoir. Then you have to reset the seesaw a second time, and you are ready to play.

Many old singleshots had a feature that prevented two wins in succession from jamming the game. The solution is that the second winning ball is shunted to a little "waiting room". When you are ready for it to pay off, you press a little button on the right under the load hole and it pays off. This machine has all of those mechanics installed, but they put a plate over the button so that functionality is no longer available. How odd.

Additionally, they gouged a hole in the bottom chute on the back and added an additional amber chute to the winning ball drop chute to route it back to the front tray. So instead of the win ball dropping out of the back into a tray, it gets sent to the front tray so that you can play it again.

Overall weird mechanics, but it all seems to work just fine.

it seems i remember reading something that older machine gave the player the winning ball back as "a lucky ball" to be replayed..
i have a machine hear at the house that i tuned and cleaned for a guy that lives in Napa ca.. his machine gives all winning balls back to the lower front tray.. his machine is staying hear for awhile, while he cleans up his house from the quake..

Love your attention to details on the back, too bad it's not normally visible... Nothing wrong with the front... just saying...

It isn't that odd the winning ball comes back to the front. Most Model A and front overflow machines were set up like that. (If you weren't missing the chute that is.)

    100 machines and counting...
