Smile Vintage NISHIJIN CircuiT x 2 Full Cyclic

This project begins with two (2) CircuiTs that have bad electronics.

The idea is to make them both FULL cyclic with the original game play controlled by an Arduino counter.

Member "Rival" was nice enough to barter and replaced the playfields and provide stickers for some of the plastic pieces!

And here are some pictures of missing 'wheat" bulbs replaced by LEDs.

    Simple answer YES.

    Long Answer:
Tire gate is opened by the OEM, 24V DC, solenoid and closed by a spring.
This will be controlled by the Arduino via a separate, diode isolated, relay.

All OEM switches are micro switches wired normally open.

    Game 1 - Stock Game
Top center switch opens tire gate; lights S
Top center switch OR either side switch advances lights to Goal (S, 2, 3, 4, G)
Top center switch OR either side switch after Goal - closes tire gate

    Smile Face Plate

The counter and games face plates are ready.

This is the second generation of face plate; the 4 digit, seven segment, "SCORE" LED display was added.
This display (along with the marquee LED matrix displays) are controlled by the two I2C pins on the Arduino.

The mounting surface is now made of CNC routed, ABS plastic.

Interesting going with the almond color.

I look forward to see how that turns out. Typically if I need to paint a frame I do it in semi-gloss or gloss black cause it makes everything pop. But I can see why you would go with white to blend in with the background.

    100 machines and counting...

    Smile Progress & Modifications

The full cyclic portion looks to work out better than expected. More on that later.

Modifications on front of machine are all for lighting, all are hidden by plastic.

Adding a red LED behind the the shooting window. The red plastic dome was there but no hole. Now there is a hole for a 5mm LED.

Adding side LEDs. Again no holes were there but are now for one pink and one orange 10mm LED.

    Smile Ramps and Sensors

Still needs a little tweaking. LED lights are not hooked up yet...

Used the original plastic back piece. Looks like a lot of holes were cut into it; but that is how it was.

Very nice! Great salvage of an often ruined machine! Still not sure if I even like cyclic machines. But, I have never played one before...so, the jury is still out. This, however, in some cases, it is all you can do. In this case it looks like it panned out well. If someone wanted the electronics only...how much do you think the "Circuit bypass circuit" cost? Maybe one price for "the kit" version, for the do it yourselfers. Then a fully assembled one, for those who don't want the challenge.
