    Default Canadian Resto

Hi everyone, I was so excited to find this forum!

My grandfather passed a few years back and recently my grandmother is selling their home they lived in for over 50 years to move into something smaller and more manageable. While helping her pack up, she asked if she could give me some things that meant something to my grandfather while he was still alive. Of course I said yes and she took me to their detached garage where she made me move a few things way (and I mean waaaaaay) in the back to reveal what looked to me like a Japanese wall mounted pub game. I didn't really know what it was until I Google'd it a bit but I am still sort of lost in identifying its particulars.

This thing meant a lot to my grandfather and apparently it worked just fine back in the 70s but it looks like it needs some TLC. Here are two shots I have of it but I will make sure I post up some better ones with a proper camera when I get home. I am hoping to restore it not only to celebrate my grandfathers joy of it but also pass it on to my kids later. Thanks for your time, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions on this journey!!

You have a nice Nishijin Model B. Welcome to Pachitalk.

It's missing the lower ramp feed cover. You should try to get one of those and about 500 (1000 is better) shiny pachinko balls.

Welcome to pachitalk! Sorry about the loss of your grandfather. I'm sure he will be happy that some of his favorite stuff will be well cared for.
The machine looks complete, except for the lower track cover.
Nishijin Pachinko Machine Model B Lower Ramp Cover | eBay All the other covers appear to be intact. This cover is necessary for proper operation. There are members that also reproduce this cover if the eBay auction ends or if shipping gets stupid. The reproductions look exactly like the originals. I expect the quality to be very good...they are made by pachinko enthusiasts after all! The machine looks very good! can't wait to see more pics! A quick warning on cleaning. DO NOT spray anything on the face of the play field to clean it!!! If sprayed, or made too wet in any way, the liquid will seep down the nails and permanently stain the play field. Feel free to ask as many questions as necessary. You will find this a very friendly group eager to help!

    Welcome!

Quick question, are some of the nail heads green and others red? I've never seen this before.

Wow! 1000 balls? I am short about 990 of them then, I could only find a small plastic bag with a few in it when I got it out of the garage. Thank you for the ID, I will surely get an order in for balls, is ebay the best place for this stuff?

Thank you pachiwall for the tips, is it ok to use a low pressure air gun to get the dust out? Everything looks fairly secure from my memory, I just don't want to blow something away so to speak.

Thanks! I'm just at home now about to take some more pictures. I like your user name too, I have a '71 Plymouth Scamp, my dad has a '70 Dart Swinger and my brother in law has a sweet little '69 Swinger. We also had 3 '64 Polaras but sold due to space and time issues.

Low pressure air should be fine. On the back, you could blow crud deeper into the machine. That may or may not be a problem...depending on where it lands.

In his picture yes. Looks like someone colored them with a sharpie. They are solid brass from the factory and with either be black (because of oxidation) or the shiny brass (when cleaned). I have seen a few machines where it looks like someone's kid got bored and painted the nail heads with some nail polish.

I have taken more pictures but can't find the cord to hook to my computer. I'm going to grab one from work tomorrow. The remaining balls that were left with the machine have some neat etchings in them, I'm just wondering what that's all about. I'll have the pics up tomorrow.

The etchings can be the name of a parlor, a manufacturer, or something generic like 'evening breeze'. There's a thread or two about that on here somewhere.

    Welcome to PachiTalk, BucketOfSkin.

As a fellow Canadian, I can tell you that you can expect to pay a significant amount for shipping of any amount of balls. Even using a flat-rate box, the shipping ends up being between $20 and $40 alone. Unfortunately, I haven't found any Canadian companies that handle pachinko/pachislo machines and parts. I ended up buying my extra balls when ordering a machine from the US. (I ordered from Five Brothers TC, but they're no longer in business. Akimono.com is likely the only remaining NA supplier)
