    Default San Japan Anime Convention

I'm mentioning this you guys mostly because it's a little pachinko related.

I spent this last weekend in San Antonio Texas attending the San Japan anime convention. There I got to meet Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. The voice of one of my favorite anime characters, Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex. While she was signing the base for a figure of that character for me I asked her what she thought of pachinko machines. She said she loved them. I asked her if she ever played the GitS machine and she said no. I had two play guides for that machine with me so I asked her to sign one as well and she did. I mentioned since I had two if she wanted the second one. She grabbed it from me saying thanks. This morning I finally got around to Tweeting her that she needed a GitS pachinko and she acknowledged by Favorating the Tweet.

I also met Akira Yamaoka. He did the music for all the Silent Hill games and the first Silent Hill movie. Both of them also did a concert as the Silent Hill Band. It made me think that Konami should license a Silent Hill pachinko.

Last year at San Japan there was a table setup at the entrance to the gaming area with three pachinko machines. They had a Trigun, Macross Frontier, and Eva 6. They were charging by the ball to play but I don't remember how much they were charging. I was looking forward to seeing them again but they didn't show. Both the Artist Alley and Dealer room were fully booked so if you were to sell machines you have to get in early. You should at least go and scope it out. Lots of fun.

Why is it that there are bigger 'cons in the SF Bay Area, but the cool people show up at the 'cons elsewhere?

    Congrats Mandoman!

I just looked through the guest list for Anime Fest. Looks like it will be a good convention. I'm surprised by how many Japanese animators are guests.
