Default Anyone know where a Buick parts car is?

Well in my new adventures out here I decided to buy a car. It is a 1953 Buick Special 2dr sedan. The thing is decent shape overall. It needs and interior and some other parts. Though one of the big ones I'm having trouble finding is the side trim that goes on the doors. So if anyone knows where a 53 2dr parts car with the trim is that would be a great help to me. I don't want to end up paying a fortune to get it but it is proving tough to find (seeing rodders are slapping it on their mercs).

    Any help is really appreciated.

I'll post pictures once I get the car home this weekend. But in the mean time here is a picture of another 53 2dr. and of the trim I am looking for.

back in the 60's my buddy had a 1953 Buick Roadmaster Convertible with orginal wire wheels
he had a heavy chrome ball on the automatic shift lever and reverse is all the way down on the lever
one day we were doing around 50 in light rain and he accidently bumped the lever into reverse
we slid around a lot, but, he didn't blow the transmission

I was once looking at a '49 Buick with a straight eight. It was $3000 and someone bought it before I could get enough money. Probably just as well. I'm sure it would have cost me a lot to keep it on the road. I didn't want to restore it...just fix whatever needed to be fixed, and keep it maintained. Then drive it daily! The hood hinged sideways. Pull the driver side latch, it hinged on the passenger side. Pull the passenger side latch, it hinged on the driver side. Pull both latches, and 2 people could lift the hood right off! If I'm not mistaken, you turned the key on...then pushed a button with your right foot as you pressed the accelerator to start it. he 3 holes in the fender had flexible tubes that connected them to the engine compartment. So theoretically, they were functional vents, not just decoration. Not that they likely vented much. The "buy here pay here" car lot ( most of them on the "Dixie strip" were crooks) ruined it by painting it flat black! I am sure the faded green with all its "patina" and surface rust peeking through gave it character and authenticity that the flat black just robbed it of! I still wanted it!

My brother had a straight 8 black 52 buick hearse around 1960, we drove it from Chicago to New York, his kids and I were in the back most of the trip there and back, we even napped back there
it still had the shades in the back to roll down to keep the sun out

What's sad is when your car is called an antique, and you are older than it.

    I've owned a lot of cars from the 50's and 60's, I even had a 1930 model A Ford 4 door, a 1937 ford 2 door basket case and a 48 chrysler 4 door,

I sold the chrysler in good running condition for $40.00 and it had a nice body and interior

If you took the key out in the "OFF" position, the neighbor kids would have a grand time joyriding the Buick. Turn the switch to "LOCK" to keep the car home.

Some folks up the street had a Chevy that got a mess of extra miles that way... it wasn't me... I swear...

Would have really loved to get my hands on a Dodge A100 pickup but there aren't any of them out here and I knew I should have got one when in SoCal. But I'm not a fan of newer cars, I mean I like updated consoles and radios and great working AC but there is something about driving older cars that I like much more. I think it is just because you can feel how everything is working unlike new cars where everything is assisted and you can't feel what your actually doing. I mean I have been driving my dad's mazda miata and I love that because everything is so direct, gear shifts are short and quick and you can see the knob move when you step on the gas. I have driven his new scion XB and I'm not as thrilled with it.

and don't forget. all the older cars were easy to work on by anyone with a little knowledge

you could replace most parts in under an hour and be back on the road.

today, they need to go to school for everything and have to use lots of testing equipment $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Well I got the car home today. I'm worn out from all the work we did and the humidity. (not use to that stuff living in California.) Anyways it needs a few parts to getting to the point of drivable. It fires right up and runs nicely, but it needs a gas tank and the brakes need to be done. But it is pretty typical. Almost all the parts that you see missing I have and are in the car. Only thing that isn't is the side door trim. (but I may have that soon enough. knock on wood.)

I'm actually planning on doing this up as a rat rod and respray the primer portions and some other areas with a flat red that matches. (the paint wasn't originally flat, just been baked so now it is.) I'll keep things up to date and add a few more pictures soon. But for now here are a few pics I took really quick.

The body is in pretty decent shape. (especially for sitting out here) There are some rust holes towards the bottom but the floor pans and rockers are pretty solid.

Yeah the interior is shot. It needs carpet, headliner, door panels, seat. I got all the bows for the headliner and I have all the door panels. But I will most likely have someone do that all. I was thinking of using a mexican blanket for the seats.
