Sounds like it should be ok but you're going to have to experiment to be sure. While all these foils may look the same, there are lots of variables. Everything from adhesive type, to what kind of substrate its designed for, temp range, manufacturing process, and these foils also have a shelf life.
So far, I've used it on bare ABS plastic as well as lacquer paint and my results are a true, factory chrome finish. The key is the right temp range and length of time heat is applied. As I said, it takes experimentation but its easy.

tried it yesterday with the foil i ordered. the iron method left a bit to be desired. it was not a uniformed coverage. i think it was my iron more than anything. i tried to work to rechrome around an LED on my arrangeball machine. it was difficult to say the least. the iron was too big and clumsy to work in such a small area. so i guess i will try something else.

Even the small monokote irons are too big for detail work like this. I use my adjustable soldering iron which I set to 3.5 out of 5.
I airbrushed the part you mentioned a few years ago with high quality chrome paint and it turned out well but entails a lot of masking. I used liquid masking which is great stuff.
After reading your post I pulled that same part off my machine and tried the foil. It turned out extremely nice but the key is the small surface tht a soldering iron provides. In the pic is the part before the foil and the other pic shows the "I" done. Granted the other half will be more challenging but I don't anticipate any problems.
As usual, the camera doesn't pick up the true amount of shine from the foil.

very impressive. i will give it another try here soon. i ordered one of the small hobby irons a couple days ago. it has an actual temp setting so i hope i can do a heck of a lot better. when you redid the "I" how big of a piece of foil did you use? and when you do the rest will you do it in sections?

I used about a 4X4 inch square piece. I just cut a piece big enough to easily handle since I do a section at a time.
As for the coin insert part, I'm not sure about foiling that since its not a flat piece. There are companies that will do chrome plastic parts however.

Well my coverite trim sealing arrived today. Perfect timing since i began a 10 day vacation. I am going to apply the chrome foil to several parts today!! I cut my foil, wrap the iron head, grab a cold beverage at my work bench, plug in the iron and... nothing... thr iron does not work. Trash right out of the box! And of course customer service is monday - friday 9-5. And the packing slip that once i open the package it is no longer rc planets problem. Gotta go thru the manufacturer!

Guess i won't be buying anything else through rc planet. I am off to hobby lobby in the next town over.
