Maybe this picture and video will help?

There is a wire that is INTENDED to hit a plastic piece and move it. The wire can be adjusted.

CarlW, thanks. I think I know what the issue is. I need to get the machine back from getting the features restored.

Next question, what kind of wood screws does this thing take (not some wacky metric countersunk [flat] head)? I figure I will want to invest in some quality Stainless screws if I can find them.

Not sure which screws you want to replace? Play field (#2x3/8")? Frame (#8x1-1/2" Coarse thread)? Mechanism to back (#4x1/2")?

Just the little screws that hold the play features onto the plywood/cell.

I use #2 x 3/8" brass, wood screws. Here in my area, they are in a box of 100 at Ace Hardware for about $5 US.

Not sure where to send you in Canada...

You might have better luck at a small box hardware store. The big box tends to have a rather meager selection of small hardware.

This is the place I use: Micro Fasteners

Prices seem ok, good service, selection is incredible.

Want to have a little fun? Go into Home Depot and ask the guy for #3-48 by 1/4" slot drive nickel plated fillister head machine screws, just to see the expression on his face.

    Back after a short hiatus.

    Progress so far:
    - Have all the spinners and features painted up and looks good.
    - Fixed the firing mechanism. Works fine now.

    Things to do:
    - Figure out why the payout mechanism doesn't work all the time.
    - Figure out why the ball track closest to the plywood backing board doesn't feed balls.
    - Replace Glass/Plexi Glass.
    - Source two lights for the machine (two missing from the block).
    - Rig up a 9V battery terminal and switch to power the lights.

So, I am not sure why the payout system isn't working right. As I understand it, the ball that falls into the features should drop down the side chute but they just seem to sit there even after I reset everything.

I can't see anything inside of the one ball track that would prevent balls from dropping down. I may have to take it all apart, which seems like a huge pain.

Have you looked at the teeter (rocker with two balls in it) if your game has one? I found payout sometimes gets 'stalled' if this is not configured (pointy armature in wrong place) or cleaned properly. I had a very dirty game where the balls inside the teeter were rusty. They got 'stuck at times until enough vibration or another ball or two piled up behind the first in line to be processed bumped the teeter to move the balls back and actuate the teeter properly. Solution was to disassemble (as is often the case) and clean it. I sprayed it down in the sink with Mean Green (great stuff, mostly citrus oil) and rinsed with hot water, shook and blow dried it. Reassemble and presto it works fine now.
