Default Ever used tarnex on balls?

put my pachinko balls in the Tumbler this weekend with some Brasso,
it did a great job cleaning them up, and they are in
usable condition now, but they are dull. wondering if tarnex
might work to brighten them up. Has anybody ever used it?
any other products out there to shine them up? I included before
and after shots of the balls...

due to all the rust on them, they may not polish up at all

I've only used C_L_R and really hot water to clean mine. wash, rinse, dry in a bath towel.

I've never used any that were that rusty to start with

I personally wouldn't use them because of how dull they are. I put them in a jar called "Test balls" which I feed through filthy machines I just bring home to test how they work.

I still recommend walnut. It works best. Straight compound won't do you much good as there is really no abrasive.

    100 machines and counting...

I covet that New Prince you have there.

Anyway, I think you are pretty much at the peak there. When balls rust, it means that corrosion has breached the chrome coatings. Pretty much anything that will remove the rust will also strip the chrome coating off. What you have now are steel balls with no chrome coating. The real problem you have is that without that chrome coating they will rapidly rust just from the humidity in the air. You will be forever trying to keep them from getting nasty.

Ditto on not using these balls in good machines. While at first glance using Tarn X sounds good, and you probably already have some around, the phenomena of tarnishing and rusting are different enough that different types of cleaning agents are required to break the tarnish or rust barrier. In essence tarnish is a self limiting form of oxidation that will actually serve a protective function while rusting is not self limiting and ultimately destructive. The Tarn X breaks down one, tarnish, but not the other.

Yea, I agree with everybody here, tarnex
is probably not a wise idea. the brasso did
A good job cleaning them up, no more rust,
they are just dull now. they are clean and smooth,
just not shiny. I guess I can live with that. Being
my machines are all clean and fully functional now,
I'll just save them for testing, as suggested. Thanks again!
