Default how do I identify models A, B, C Nishijins?

    hello everybody,
I'm new here, but love this place. there are so many helpful people here,
    and I appreciate that.
my question is, how does one differentiate Nishijin
models quickly? I see a few on Craigslist from time to time,
but cannot tell what models they are. is there a quick identifying method out there?
what do I look for in particular? thanks in advance!

For this question and your one about tumbler media, remember there's a search function on this website as well as stickies.

Model A machines have 2 ball trays on back. An upper and lower.101.jpg Usually plastic like this single ball conversion.061.jpg It started out as a single shot machine, but was converted by the factory into a multi shot machine. The jackpot balls are in a 2 row rocker tray below the lower ball tray. The jackpot balls can be seen from the front through a small window in the lower left corner.sophia single shot 008.jpg DSCF6338.jpgThe empty tray is the view from the back. Usually under a plastic hinged cover. The jackpot is hard to see in single ball conversion machine, because the added door and tray block it. These are Nishijin machines. This machine is not Nishijin but has a Model A style.new pics 002.jpg It even has the front window.Matsuya Sangyo 005.jpg You can tell a Model A from the front picture only...by looking for the JP ball window in the lower left corner.Matsuya Sangyo 002.jpg

I forgot to add this to the Model A Nishijin Technical Animation
Model B machines are the most common. As you probably know the JP balls are stored in a circle in the center feature. So you can tell a Model B from the front picture only...by looking for the balls in the center feature.NP damage report 007.jpg If balls in center AND it is a Nishijin, it is a Model B. The balls in the center ABOVE is from a Maruhon machine, so even though it has JP balls in the center...it is not a Model B. New Prince 018.jpg A lot of other manufacturers used Model B type mechanics.OKUMURAYUKI 005.jpg Pay no attention to the home made wooden ball dump chute!

Model C machines aren't as common...but they are not rare. I guess that by the time Model C machines, they were considered reliable enough to not have to show you the JP balls. There is no window to see if there are balls in the jackpot.Mostly model C 023.jpg The jackpot tray is back to 2 rows of balls on a seesaw.Mostly model C 027.jpg Well...its in there somewhere!Mostly model C 028.jpg Fills up from the right side, and dumps them down the big GREEN chute on the left. It is always GREEN! These are very cool machines, and are pretty easy to maintain. The entire back snaps off with 5 clips! All ball paths easily cleaned...ball jams dumped quickly!
    And finally...SWORDS OPEN! Mostly model C 013.jpg

    Study the book!

pachinkoboy.com - Nishijin Vintage Machine Catalog

Trust me once you go through it a few times you will be able to name them fast by figuring out subtle differences. I can usually name a machine with just a picture of the front (though 75-77 are hard)

    100 machines and counting...
