Default What color stain should I use on this cabinet.

Hey guys...it's been a long time since I've worked on my pachinkos so I've dug a lot of stuff out...trying to sell some on craigslist, but this single shot I really like. Was just building the cabinet today and was wondering what color stain do you think the cabinet should be...honey oak, redish wood color, dark, light...

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I think it really depends on what color things are in the room where it is going. Otherwise I'd just suggest to try to match the original stain. Or if you really want it to pop out stain it dark. The only thing is I'm not sure how well Pine will stain. We either use maple, oak, or veneer which is beech (3rd pic).

Here are some pictures of machines we did.

For the purpose of color matching here is the Minwax water base stain color sheet. The aged yellow color is close to the harvest grain or mustard color (depending on time in sun), while the factory color is parchment.

I'd stain it a tad bit darker than the machine.

I agree...a tad darker is better than too dark. On my football game pictured here you can see that it just looks too dark but the others look better.

I have had good success with boiled linseed oil. If it is good enough for my M1 GARAND, It must be good enough for my pachinkos!almost done 006.jpgBrings out the natural grain of the wood. But to each his own!

Where does that go? Next to the hot pink one with black racing stripes?

I would consider the bright pink and green if it was a Ginza!

All finished. Pretty happy with the results. Glad I didn't go dark walnut, like I've done in the past. I really enjoy this machine though. Has great sound and love the single shots!
