    Default Needs to be reset?

Hey, I'm looking at a "firedrift" on craigslist. The guy says it "needs to be reset." What could this mean? Thanks!

it means it has a fault and the guy doesn't know how to fix it. It might need a reset or it might be something like a faulty optical sensor setting off alarms.

Okay, I called him and he said it lights up, and the video plays, but "it needs to be reset, you might have to take it to a guy"...

Ah, I looked closer at the picture of the machine, and it says "E1" Looked it up, and seems like it can be fixed. I might have a Pachislo in the future!

What if there is no reset key? Is it completely hopeless then?

As long as you have the key to get inside the machine, you can easily replace the reset switch if a key is not present.

One of these will work great.

that looks like a nice replacement.. but most any simple on/off style of toggle switch will work as well

How would one go about replacing it with a toggle switch?

I found the tutorial, but I can't get the box with the switch out. The tutorial only shows one screw being taken out and I can't find anything else holding it in...

Okay. I replaced the switch, and did a reset. It seems like it wants to work, but isn't.

    Congratulations!
It probably just needed a hard reset, which you might have done unintentionally.

A hard reset often cures most errors, so it's always worth trying that as the first part of trouble shooting,
and sometimes these machines just don't like being moved about or not played for a while and may just need connections re-seating etc.

Glad to hear you got it working!!
