HP desktop sitting at the curb :>

I went to get my sunday paper and saw an HP A6763W desktop computer sitting on the curb down the street

I pasted it by, but changed my mind on the way back and picked it up

its a 2008 high end model

Nice find. But Vista. I just finished swapping our computers over to windows 7. (bought a new mac and put windows on it and moved my old desktop).

computer powers on and is quiet, I tried a monitor, but, get "no signal" and when i disconnect the cable i get cable disconnected message??
I'll try a different monitor later!!

No signal because it is at an unsupported frequency or resolution. Disconnected, because there was other communication going on.

I'll play around with it a little more tomorrow, i can always pull the memory and hard drive and stick it back on the curb

i played around with it some more with no luck, so far i pulled the WD 640gb hard drive, and took apart a usb drive holder i had
and stuck it in there, i did a format and its working well

I got a free 640gb drive

I'll pull the 7gb memory tomorrow, trying to decide if i want to pull the 300watt power supply too???

I sold the memory for $17.75 plus shipping and the hard drive for $27.75 plus shipping

I recently found a Samsung 42" LCD TV at the side of the street. Opened it up and found 2 capacitors blown. $4 later I'm now watching a new (to me) TV.

You can find some good stuff lying around if you keep your eyes open.
