Default yamasa king pulsar "belly" light will not turn on

Hello all, I bought this machine on Craigslist for 250 and everything works fine except the bottom front light. The guy said the bulb was bad so I replaced it but it still doesn't work. This frustrates me greatly 20140320_150220.jpg

Check the wiring to the bulb sockets, the inverter, and from the inverter to the power supply.

Can you give me a general idea of what I need to check , here's a pic of the inside door. The light that's not working is on the panel with the yellow sticker. I checked the wires for the ends were the bulb goes and nothing seems out of the ordinary.1395372731332.jpg

In your picture, it looks like some wires are just hanging off at the bottom near the left speaker. Is that the case? If so, shouldn't they be plugged in somewhere?

I believe the circuit board in the lower right corner is the inverter. Not for certain. So check the wiring around that area. That is an inverter, so there will be high voltage there when the machine is powered on. Be careful.

You can always follow the wires from the bulb connectors to see where they go, and check those connections.

If you have a DMM, check the voltage on the low side of the inverter, to make sure it is present.

The third picture are the wires that run to the light bulb socket , do I unplug and then plug back in?

    This is your inverter.

    inverter.jpg

The white connector on the right is for the fluorescent bulb. The connector on the left side of the inverter is the supply voltage.
In my Popeye pachislo, the supply voltage is 12 volts DC.
    1. Get two straight pins used for sewing.
    2. Make sure the pachislo power is off.
    3. Remove the fluorescent bulb.
    4. Disconnect the connector wire on the left of the inverter.
    5. Insert the straight pins into the holes of the wire connector.
    6. Bend the straight pins so that they do not touch each other. THEY MUST NOT TOUCH EACH OTHER OR ANYTHING ELSE.
    7. Set the multimeter to measure Volts DC. Black probe in COM or -. Red probe in V or +.
    8. Touch the probe tips together to verify that you see 0000 on the multimeter.
    9. Make sure the straight pins are not touching anything.
    10. Power on the pachislo.
    11. Touch one probe of the multimeter to one pin, the other probe to the other pin, and read the voltage.
The voltage should be around 12 VDC or -12VDC.
    12. Immediately turn off the pachislo.
    13. Remove the pins from the connector.
    14. Plug the connector back into the inverter.
    15. Disconnect the connector wire from the right side of the inverter.
    16. Insert the straight pins into the holes of the wire connector.
    17. Bend the straight pins so that they do not touch each other. THEY MUST NOT TOUCH EACH OTHER OR ANYTHING ELSE.
    18. Set the multimeter to read resistance, Ohms, the Greek letter Omega.
    19. Touch the probe tips together to verify that you see 0000 or 0001 or 0002 or 0003 on the multimeter.
    20. Touch one probe of the multimeter to one pin, the other probe to the contact of the fluorescent bulb socket, and read the resistance.
    21. Move the probe from one fluorescent bulb socket to the other fluorescent bulb socket, and read the resistance.
    22. Move the other probe from one pin, to the other pin, and read the resistance.
    23. Move the probe from the fluorescent bulb socket back to the first fluorescent bulb socket and read the resistance.
Your measurements should have been: two measurements with infinity ohms, and two measurements with 0010 or less ohms.
    24. Remove the pins from the connector.
    25. Plug the connector back into the inverter.

    Report back your findings.
