Default Bought 13 Machines that were almost tossed in the dumpster.

saw an ad on craigslist for a guy in Md. selling 13 pachinko machines. i thought this was kinda odd since just a couplwe days before i put an ad selling 1 to a dozen refurbished machines. I thought that the competition was on. but it turned out this guy had 13 machines he pulled out od a forclosure clean out he did a year ago. there were around 25 machines in all but he tossed several because they were "smashed" up. he saved these 13 and stuck them in the back of his out building. he finally decided to try to sell them. he had no clue what they wer until he looked them up on line. but all he wanted was some cash to get them out of the building. so i called sunday and went over yesterday evening.
i bought all the moderns for $30 eachexcept one of the silver sankyo which i got for $20. . and the yuki was $25. i paid $10 for a lower ball track cover. there were 6 machines left all vintage. a couple nishijins and others. one was a recycler and one was a single shot. . i told him i was n't really interested in them and i did not have the room to get them if i did. well he says take them all for $10 each. i said"SOLD!!" i will probably strip a couple fo rthe parts and keep the single shot machine.
i live 2.5 hours from here. but i have a friend in baltimore which is less than an hour from him. he is going to pick them up next time he is coming down my way. so i paid a total of $195 for all in the pictured machines, $10 for the cover and $60 for the other 6 machines. for a total of 13 machines for $265.
so far this morning and a little last night. i have a kyoruko JAWS machines that works great. a freddy vs. jaso machine that works great. a cinderella boy machine that works but i am having a little trouble with the ball feeder to the firing hammer. the two silver sanyo's are the project. i am taking parts of of one to complete the other. one started .it looks loke it has a fault logger on it. it came up with a failure code of "2" and a code of "7". i got both of them cleared. i was having a ball jam at a point where the balls went through a counting mechanism just before the pay of. one side was hanging up. so i took the one unit out odf the one machine and put it in the other.
i will opening some tech tickets this afternoon. on some of these points.

also the jaws machine has what appears to be a chalky substance all over the plastic. when you spray it with a mild cleaner and wipe or scrub lightly it goes away until it dries and it comes back. any suggestions on a good cleaner i should be using og the plastic face?

    Thanks,

    Great Haul!
    Congratulations!
I noticed quickly when getting my jaws machine that the plexiglass is actually part of the frame and, short of replacing the whole door, it would be very difficult (if at all possible) to replace it
you might try Mothers plastic polish in a tiny area but other members probably have better ideas that have been in your situation before

    best of luck!

It is a new gin. It is missing the motor for the shooter, which i will need. Also the center carrier rack that holds one of the components is trashed. As you look at it from the back it is hinged on the left and swings out I will need one of them as well. Any ideas on where to find parts for these?
    Thanks ,

i spent most of the day sleeping , guzzling cough syrup and tinkering with the 7 machines i brought home. i have been pretty much laid up sick with the flu and then bronchitis. so i would tinker some, then nap, then tinker some more. so the results after 24 hours is:

    1) the JAWS machine is working perfectly. just have to find some plastic polish.
    2) the freddy vs. jason is now working just fine. it cleaned up very well and i think i have it sold already!
    3) the two silver sankyo machines are "F-16" and "ghost" . i had to salvage parts from each to get one working machine. i first fixed up F-16 but wasn't very impressed with it. so i transferred everything over to the "ghost" machine . i found the pc board on the back of the firing mechanism was bad so i had to move the other one over. along with a a couple 8-pin connector cables.. it works great! gotta polish the pins up some.
    4) the new gin machine is missing the motor for the firing mechanism,( i totally overlooked that when i picked it out originally) also one of the mounting racks is destroyed. need a new one. so i am at a standstill there.
    5) the cinderella boy machine was nothing more than plugging it in and cleaning out the rat droppings in it. it was not feeding consistantly after a bit. so i clipped a small aluminum piece and added it around the ball feeding mechanism and now it is working flawlessly.
    6) the Yuki vintage machine is missing some covers on the back mut seems to to be good. . i had to clear the ball jam out of the back but she is pushing along just fine.

so my first question is do i need a new gin motor to replace the missing one or can i use any motor as long as i can make the connectors compatible?
who or where is a good source for the more modern machine parts?

Thanks for all the kind words too!

    AG

went this past saturday and picked up the remaining 6 vintage machines. and sold the Freddie vs. Jason machine. i will post some pictures tonight i hope of the the new dirty half dozen!

I have one pretty nice Nishijin recycler similiar to the lightning machine on the museum website. except mine has 6 tulips including one in the center pocket..

i have a single shot New Prince machine that i haven't done anything with other than take out about twenty rusty balls from the front.

and a couple other nishijins that have cleaned up nice and are working.
also have an early machine whose name escapes me at the moment. it begins with an "A".

i thought i was going to have a couple parts machines but so far, knock on wood, everything is cleaning up and functional. i will probably sell the single shot outright. it doesn't appeal to me.
also i was able to fix the f-16 machine. i made an 8 pin connector and got the ball shooter circuit board to work again.

so for the meantime i am out of the "buying pachinko machine" game.

FINALLY FOUND MY CAMERA!!here are the pictures. i started off with the new prince single shot. i have put much more work into the moderns than the vintage. with the exception of the azura i have spent about 25-30 minutes just doing a basic cleaning and testing and checking the lights. i was able to salvage 6 of the 7 vintage machines. i had a daiichi machine that had a horrible cell. so i gutted it. seems the payout mechanism and the top ball hopper on the single shot were damaged beyond repair. i was able to use the parts from tha daiichi to fix the single shot.
if anyone needs some daiichi parts let me know. they will go cheap!!

i sold three of the vintage machines today to a friend. i sent pictures and he is picking 3 of the 6 i have shown!

sold the jaws and the cinderella boy on ebay this past week. "pick up only" someone is driving to virginia from massachusetts to pick them up. i am down to 6 left. still looking for some small parts but in general all are fine. i might try a couple of my vintage machines to see if they would sell. going to the flea market the first weekend in april. i have a ton of old vintage items to sell and i will try three machines and use the advice given here.
