Default LED conversion on a modern pachinko?

I was installing an LED upgrade kit on my family guy pinball and got to thinking about an LED conversion for pachis. The age of LEDs really has arrived for pinball, all the angles, colors, and most importantly patterns are all available now, and cheap enough for mass market. I haven't seen much done though for LEDs in place of the incandescent bulbs used in pachinkos, if I have missed it I am sorry and please point me to it. I can't imagine it being a problem, on a few pinball machines like the Pin2k series the computer will detect LEDs as burned out bulbs but since the few burned out bulbs I have aren't tripping any visible indication I don't see why it would do so with an LED. Anyone done this?

I jut bought these. 50 White E10 9V LED Bulb Light Lamp for DIY Lionel WL | eBay They haven't arrived yet, so I can't comment on them yet. but I expect them to work well on vintage machines. Modern machines using 24 volt systems are a different animal. I plan on using these in an arrangeball machine that uses 28 volt bulbs at 100 volt AC input on the transformer. US voltage at 120 VAC pushes it up to about 30 VDC. I am going to have to calculate what value resistor to drop the voltage to a safe level to run them. The same seller has other LEDs in smaller quantities, but I needed 30...a pack of 50 allow me to screw up and still hve enough left over to finish my project!

I like the train type ones that have the built in resistor to run at 24v that way it all fits nicely in the OEM bulb holder, adding in a resistor gets things a little to big. I need to do some measuring when I get home and see what will fit.

Which modern machine do you have? It seems like the manufacturers use both LEDs and incandescent bulbs.

What you have to look at allot is the brightness and the color in combination. White might be 17000 and green 15000 and red 7000 at the same size and power use. So white and green might be a better match than white and green.

I will work up a set of replacements this week and post it here.
