Default what not to do to restore

I was poking around youtube and found this train wreck..

not talking smack but I think it illustrates what not to do when restoring a vintage machine.

That was a member's restoration of an unusual Comet II L and there are some threads regarding the whole restoration posted back in 2009 (I'm trying to locate the link)

but in the meantime further information can be found with the rest of the video restoration / story behind this one

    Comet II L Videos:

or check out mudfud's sticky thread here, which has some great links to restoration threads:

I imagine that was before anyone got brave enough to do a cell replacement.

not having back story on this restoration it was likened in my mind's eye to being dropped into a horror movie. Like I stated I wasn't intending to talk smack or be offensive..

I hope she was able recover that machine without completely trashing it out.

Chewy was quite innovative when she was active in the Pachi world. She wasn't afraid to try unconventional methods to restore machines.

Check out this thread where she took a "trashed" Power Flash machine and made into an awesome see-through wonder!!

I guess it's all in what a person considers a restoration. Is it making the pachinko like new, with polished pins and thoroughly cleaned innards? Or is it making a piece of interpretive art out of the machine? Or something else?

Dunno, but it all a lot of effort.
