Sold for $99,902.00!!! I believe that is a new record. I was just watching an episode of Pawn Stars last week and they had an opportunity to buy one of these in excellent condition and one of the even more rare golden ones that were a promotional give away.

For the competition, 116 special game cartridges were manufactured. 90 of these copies exist as the official gray cartridge and were given out to finalists after the championships concluded. The other 26 are gold—like the The Legend of Zelda cartridge—and were given out as prizes in a separate contest held by Nintendo Power magazine.[3] Each gray cartridge has a unique number making the cartridge easier to track and difficult to counterfeit. However, the gold cartridges have no unique identification numbers and are difficult to track and authenticate. The circuit boards in the gray and gold cartridges are identical. Both versions of the cartridge feature DIP switches on the front which select the time limit of the game. To play the cartridge, one must have a controller connected to both controller ports and press start on the second player's controller. For the competition, there was a special switch that would start all games simultaneously

these were made by a 2nd party and sold new for $55.00, the boards are different and the cartridge case is blue so they can't be passed off as the real ones.

I had a chance to buy one when they were first up for sale and passed

this seller hasn't sold anything for almost 6 years, there are fakes out there, the only way to really tell is to open the cart and check the chips and the layout of the board!!

I don't get it. I own some pretty rare video game stuff, I but I don't think I could get 100Gs for it. Hell, for my entire 37-moving boxes stuffed full of retro goodness collection.

I used to collect a lot of old video games and systems. I never really looked for the high dollar rare stuff, just games from my childhood that I enjoyed.

the best deal I ever got on video games was around 30 snes RPG games with orginal boxes, instructions, maps and other stuff that orginally came with them

I paid $5.00 each at goodwill and made close to $500.00 profit

I also got Neo Geo AES system with 2 big joystick pads and around 5 games for $100.00 plus shipping on ebay

it had been newly listed about 2AM with a BIN, the seller didn't know what they had or what it was worth

Same here, except I am still in my childhood. Hence the pachinko collection.

Does anyone start a pachinko collection as a result of a mid-life crisis?

    Let see:

Bought luxury British saloon car. Check

Own and ride a few high-performance motorcycles. Check

Considered coloring my hair or shaving what is left all off. No check

Dating women half my age. No check (Dammit!)

Have a prescription for Viagra. No check (You're damn right no check!)

Nope, not enough checks to validate a mid-life crisis. Was close though.
