Default Stop Board Issue - Light a Lamp Mizuho

The three stop buttons are lighting up but not stopping the reels when pressed. They continue to spin until they time out.

I have read all of the technical info I could find and have tried a few troubleshooting ideas already.
    - Hard Reset
    - Making sure spin knob is centering
    - Clean the opto's on the stop board

Here are a few things I have observed:
I can jump the 5 volt pin to one of the pins going to the three stop buttons and it will actuate the stop function and the reel will stop for that specific pin. The corresponding LED on the CPU board will also light when jumped. The DMM is registering 4.96v when probing the 5v supply wire and the ground wire at the stop board. I don't see a light coming from the opto. Not sure if I should or not? My best guess is that all 3 opto's are bad? Not sure how to test the opto. Maybe it has to be tested in circuit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The opto use infra red. So you will not see it. Hang on. On the stop board. Most people say that if the stop board isn't working. Check for a blown fuse. Sorry I can't be much help. I'm sure others will be along to help.

It seems you're getting power to the board and the circuits on the back end are detecting changes and reacting the way they should. Good work!

This is how my Eleco Sinbad Adventure works.
The emitter side of the opto switch is always on. Check to make sure its getting power (pin1=Vcc pin2=Gnd). On mine pin 1 to gnd was +1VDC. This will eliminate the resistor.
With the Stop Board plugged in and a button pressed or blocking an emitter the reels will not spin. Unplugging the Stop Board allows the reels to spin but with no control.
The sensor/detector side of the opto switch is fed with +5VDC at pin 3 and Gnd at pin 5. Pin 4 is the "switch leg". It reads 0VDC (current is flowing) when it sees the emitter. Blocking the emitter opens pin 4 and reads +5VDC to pin 3.

My guess is one of the emitters died in a opto switch.

***AT YOUR OWN RISK*** You can unplug the Stop Board, start the reels spinning and as they spin plug in the board. The reel that stops is where the bad switch is. You won't be able to stop the other reels because it thinks you're not releasing the button.

Thank you for the great information Armando. I will do some additional testing. One other test I performed since my first post was to jump across the input/output on each opto and I was able to stop each reel individually. Not sure if this falls in line with what you are suspecting?

Seems like you've pretty much eliminated anything else. The hard part will be sourcing a replacement.

    You can try Mouser.

    Here's an optical switch search:

Without looking at the back of your board I can't tell if yours is a 4 pin or 5 pin switch.

This is the info for my switch:
    Sharp PN: GP1A53HRJ00F
    Data Sheet: http://www.sharpsma.com/webfm_send/1552

It doesn't look like Mouser or Digi-Key have it in stock.

Thank you Mandoman. I believe it is a 5 pin opto, but I will take a closer look and order some up.

CORRECTION: Mouser and Digi-key do not have it in stock. My bad.

I was lucky enough to get the part number off of the opto in my Eleco. Hopefully its compatible with yours.
Looks like Newark has them in stock for $0.90 each.

    Good luck.
