Default Interesting Model C Machine - $25 (Long Island/East Patchogue)

Very interesting center feature on this model C machine. Totally worth the $25 for someone within driving distance, IMHO.

The seller was leaving Long Island to go to Florida ( gee.. Wonder why?)
And can't get a picture to me at this time
So if she doesn't find a local buyer before returning home (guessing someone there can give it away)
    I'll get some better pics

Boy, if it were within an hour's drive for me, I would go buy it just to check it out.

Thanks for working to get photos for us Derek!

    Update:
Just talked to the seller and it turns out she lives in Florida and that her brother is the one selling it and it is still available
She described him as probably still using a rotary phone and and highly unlikely to be able to text any better picture of it but she would try to get her daughter in Long Island to pop in and take a pic of the center feature and back and send them my way

I wish I'd seen this post earlier!!! but haven't been on in some time until today to share my latest find, which turns out to be the machine you guys are talking about. Thanks, alphaminor for the link to this post!

    Nishijin C Hippos.jpgNishijin C Hippos (7).jpgNishijin C Hippos (9).jpgNishijin C Hippos (10).jpg
The hippos on the sides "eat" the balls, the lower jaws close when a ball passes through. The bottom hippo stays open until a ball falls in then he closes his mouth to open up again for more.

The seller wasn't sure if it worked. I haven't loaded it up yet but I'll give it a go maybe tomorrow, but no signs that it wouldn't play. It looks complete except for a missing rear cover and a possible piece missing on the center attraction. There's about 50 balls that came with it and the seller told me on the phone that her son had simply plugged the wires in and it sparked but didn't know if it powered up. I pictured 2 wires jammed in the 120 volt wall outlet, when she said "sparks" but nothing looks melted so that's good. A little more about it here on my post... http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...-c-hippos.html

And it is too cool to tear apart so it'll be restored, dunno when yet, but I'll keep everyone posted.

The machine is wonderful, I love the way the center works, and looking at the picture, I don't think its missing anything,
if your talking about the two little molded pegs near the mouths of the lowest set of hippos, I've seen something similar on other Nishijins and wondered the same thing, I think they simply help channel the balls exactly like the nails do and they may be shaped that way so they don't obscure and of the center feature
But there are other members that know much more about these vintages than myself, and they may reveal something further on that subject
It looks from the back to be pre- electric and hopefully the spark that was seen, turns out to simply be the fuse blowing as well as possibly the lights and microswitches, but again, that's all speculation on my part
The mouth closing action sounds very cool, if your the filming type, you'll need to post a video on YouTube or something when you get it up and running
best of luck with the clean up, and congratulations, once more , on a really neat find

Good idea to shoot a short video! Did a bit of investigating myself, but still wondering about the "missing" rear cover, but just like the front maybe just some pegs that are throwing me off. This is my first "C" so I've got a little bit to learn!

If your talking about the lower left cover on the back, that's not too uncommon for it to be missing and I think it's more or less just to keep dust and stuff out of that area and shouldn't affect the playability of the machine
Once again, more knowledgable members may rightfully contradict me on that

First of all, you have found a very interesting and cool looking Model C machine!! I am very envious.

As for the missing cover, I have yet to find a Model C with a cover over the lower left section (and I have been searching for one for my own Model C machine for many years). I wouldn't worry about that so much. As for the electrical, it doesn't appear to me that there are any motors or solenoids on your machine, so if that is the case, then the worst that would have happened is the fuse and bulbs would have blown, and all are cheap and easy to replace.
I can't wait to see a video of your center feature in action.

No video yet, but the machine does work. I vacuumed it out loaded it with balls and fired away! It's a real challenge to get the balls to land in the center attraction and equally challenging to stay out of the foul lane. A little more skill and less flipper action on this machine than my others, all of which have bumpers instead of foul lanes.
