the two here use pvc too! I used a 2" drill saw thing, one of those round cup-shaped drill bits, it was about six bucks and completely overwhelmed my cheap drill press. I don't recall what size tubing it was, it was a near-miss and I had to wrap it in a couple layers of duct tape to get it to fit.

    These look super. Nice job.

I saw you offering up your time for $3.00/hr. Thats $24/day - $48 for the weekend.

So heres the deal. I will buy the supplies, pay you the $48 for you to come and build these at my place. I will add to that free room and board (actually you can't go home until its complete) and all the free pachinko action when the job is done. The fridge is loaded but you have to retrieve your own beer.

I was going to say that I could make you broke on beer alone, but I'm pretty much a lightweight. If I bring my wife though, I think we can put you into chapter 11 : )

Syph, awesome cabinets! Very nice. Very high-tech looking and go great with your machines.

BTW, I have to disagree with Tulsa about reaching in and grabbing the balls and reloading with one hand. I have the cabinets from Gameroom Cabinet on eBay and I find it REAL easy to open the door on my cabinets while holding a small bucket below, letting the bucket fill and then dumping the balls from the bucket back in the top -- yes, that all is real easy to do with one hand. (The bucket I use holds around 500 balls.) All while never letting go of the shooter with my other hand. Takes mere seconds and it's easier than trying to just grab a handful at a time and throwing them back in the top -- plus, when I do that, I always end up dropping some.

    Hey Syph,

They look excellent! I have been thinking about making cabinets for mine whenever we get settled again, but I have not finalized my plans as yet. I like the cabinets that Slotter bought and thought I would make something like that with a change or two to the top hopper and the bottom catch hopper. Now I see how you have handled yours, and I like the clear Lexan which allows the balls to be seen.

I have a question about both of these cabinets, however. Once the machine is installed in the cabinet, do you have to empty the top hopper before you can open the machne door? If that is the case, it would be nice to be able to shut the hopper supply when you want to open the machine door. I am still thinking about that.

    Best wishes,
    Dave Wile

Sort of, but it's not as big an issue as you might think - if you open the door a few inches, all the top balls drain into the bottom hopper. It's a little loud, but it's not the ball-chasing floor disaster it was during my first couple of tests. You could probably do some kind of slot dealie in the top like I did on the bottom, maybe with the handle to the side, you'd have to dig through your balls to reach it. What that would do to the load-bearing abilities of that shelf I don't know. It wouldn't help though.

Thanks for the kind words, too - that was pretty much my first thought when I saw one of those gameroom cabinets wall cabinets - I wanted to see the balls in the bottom, and I wanted to get rid of that funnel somehow. Someone else posted a wall cabinet that was black and had longer sides that stuck out from the top and bottom and that was pretty much it for me.

Man, about every third time I grab a handfull of balls, one or two just jump right out. Hey, um, that sounds really bad. Never mind.

Home Depot. I overbought 18"x24" sheets, but that was lucky because I needed to cut a 16x16 sheet for the inner glass on ol' robocop. Thanks SlotUSA! You made my wife think I'm really handy!

As I recall Bilko, you're pretty handy yourself with that auto-feeder system you built. Are you going to try your hand at one of these?

oh dang, yeah, I forgot about Bilko's kickass feeder system! He's the source of my lexan madness - now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I had a single original idea! Yikes!

That feeder thing is mad awesome. /worship

Yes, it is still in the works, but it will have to wait a bit until I can find more space for the unit. I am exploring a multigame four-side cabinet with a built-in ball lift unit to supply all four games simultaneously.

    Arby,

I will be building 2 stands for my 2 pachinkos this weekend they will look like the ones that are mounted on the wall but will be standing, im going to put a base on them that should prevent them from tipping over. But i dont think im going to build them in one case because it will be easier for me to move around if their in seperate cases, ill post pics when im done
