    Default My first completed restoration

    Hi,

I just wanted to share pics of my first completed restoration and say thank you to everybody who helped me and all my questions .

It is the second machine I was working on but put the first on hold so I could do this one for a Christmas present for my nephew. It is an Okumura Yuki. Due to budget constraints I did not purchase a playfield background but rather cut a piece of blue vinyl and added orange accent vinyl and covered with a sheet of Mylar. Other than that it just got a really thorough cleaning. I ordered a power adapter so that part is not done as of yet as it has not arrived. I also want to replace the plexiglass as it has some scratches. For his birthday in the spring I will give him a case for it. My sister will decide after in the house for a bit if she wants wall mount or floor/table case.

I do have another questions(s). How often is a jackpot normally hit? I would like to make it hit more often to make it as fun as possible for him. I know bending the nails helps, but unsure how much to bend and not sure if only the ones directly above a tulip or pocket need to be done. Any pointers?

Anyhow, here are some pictures of how it came out. Thank you again for all the help!

    Mike

Wow! That cell replacement looks great! It goes good with the blue and orange parts on front. looks as if it could have belonged there all along. Good thing you decided not to paint it!

That machine is blue. Lot of blue there. Not saying blue is bad. Came out pretty good.

As for adjusting nails. You mainly want to adjust the ones over the pockets. Usually you should hit a jackpot every 15-20 balls (you will have "dry streaks" at times though). Best way to tell if it is setup right is to play it for a few hours. To check the size just grab a ball and run it between the nails; you want to try to make it so there is no force is required to drop a ball into a pocket (meaning if you let go it will fall through and not really hit the nails).

    100 machines and counting...

that has to be the darkest pachinko i have ever seen.. and i looks good.. as started above it really makes the parts stand out..

    very nice looking

adjust the nails a bit.. keep in mine that nails 1 row up and direct balls where you want as well..

the last machine i repaired for a customer, he wanted to make sure it paid good to keep the kids interested.. so i did a bit more adjusting then normal.. when he got it home he wrote me and asked how to tighten it up cause the top and bottom hopper were always full.. (guess i got to carried away)

thanks all. yes i agree it is dark. The blue was not as dark until I put the mylar on but still happy with it. I think it he will like it.

And thanks on the info on adjusting the pins. I will play it quite a bit later tonight and do some adjusting. I don't want it to be too easy but also want to keep him excited.

Then onto finishing my Sanyo. It is nearly there. All the pins are back in and the majority of the playfield parts. I hope to have it together by weeks end. I will also build a cabinet for it but will wait until it is spring. Too cold now and the snow does not help...

    thanks Jeff

Only thing I did not do that I thought about doing but afraid of screwing it up was on the face of the yellow guy at the top repainting the red as it is warn off (as well as an emblem on the door below). I would have liked to have but was concerned with how it would come out.

The power adapter came today so will hook up the lights later. Hopefully he really likes the present. He is 9, pretty sure he will...

I was playing it tonight and checking what pins need adjusting and realized how the center feature works and wondered if it is common or not as my experience is with only one machine prior. I had taken the feature apart when cleaning but still did not totally understand what it did. There are 2 triangle pieces that when a ball goes through flip one way or the other. I knew they were diverting the ball out a different hole in the back of it but did not realize that they opened different tulips depending on which way they were diverted by the triangles. Is that a common thing?

    Thanks,
    Mike

i have seen center features that will divert balls to open tulips below.. but there usually perty simple, if the ball lands in the left side the lower left open, in the center then the bottom center opens, and the right opens the right...

i dont think i have seen one that diverts them to different places at different times??

ah that is interesting. The triangles are odd shaped meaning longer on 2 ends than the 3rd. At first I thought I put together wrong as when a ball enters and one turns it catches on the other and gets stuck. I thought it should spin all the way but realized next ball switches it back. I did not realize it opened different tulips when it did that until last night.
