how to activate jackpot

I own a Nishijin 'Parlor King" pachinko. in the years playing this machine the jackpot door has only opened 3 times and I have no clue how it happened. I have figured out at least the LEDdisplay has to have 3 of the same characters displayed to get into a pre-jackpot mode, but from there I have no clue.IMG_0504.jpg

I cant help ya more then ya already know... it will take a set of 3.. some machines require that balls land in certain pockets in a certain order before a fever.. but im not sure if yours is one of those.. someone will be along shortly to offer more help... and others will be along shortly to

I don't know your specific machine, but it looks pretty standard to me..So you should just need to match 3 to get the bonus door to open??

the 3 matching characters start a timed event, special sounds and light patterns. so I figure a certain target pattern has to be hit in order to open the door. ive tried with the door open placing balls in the targets marked 'start' , and the center target as quickly as possible, but no idea what to do

Ah, but putting balls into START will only "spin reels". Only when three of something to line up on the LED display do you have the opportunity for the jackpot. The OPEN door opens and for every ball that enters, you get x balls back. X can be 5, 10, 12, 13, or 15 balls. That's the general way it works for modern pachinkos. On some moderns, if you gently pry open the OPEN door, and drop a ball in there, you get x balls back, even though you haven't spun the reels.

It might be different for yours, as yours seems to be a very early modern with a rudimentary LED display. I remember seeing these the first time I went to Japan in 1986.
