    Default acquiring parts

So a guy who once bought a machine at an estate sale and never got around to "fixing it up" a year ago, sold it to me for $20. It is a Nishijin A, and I'd just given my only Nishijin A to a friend as a gift, so I really wanted one. This one had a non-pachinko mable jammed in it, and once I cleared that, everything almost worked. The plastic piece that resets the payout seesaw is broken, and the broken piece is missing. Right now, it's possible to play, as long as you don't mind reaching around and manually resetting the seesaw every time-- the lights don't work either, but what else is new.

I can't find anyone selling either the part, or a junk model A for parts. Does anyone have a good photo of the seesaw return mechanism, and does anyone know just how much counterweight it needs?

Or else, does anyone know a source foe parts that doesn't show up when you Google "pachinko parts for sale," or similar terms? Or, does anyone have a junk machine, and want to sell the part?

This machine has a really interesting face, and seems to be working well everywhere else, so I'd love to get it working.

I've watched the animation, and I can see from that exactly what is missing, but it doesn't help me much with fabricating a new one.

There are several versions of the Model A payout mechanisms (depending on year built). Can you post photos of the front and back of your machine? I have a Model A parts machine that might have what you are looking for, but I want to make sure that it will be the correct one for your machine.

I took a pic of the broken piece, which currently has a paper clip taped to it, to function as the ball gate. The jerry-rig works about 80% of the time, and has allowed me to actually play the machine, and verify that otherwise it works-- and therefore it would be worth it to spend money on a good part if I could find one. I left my cable to load the photo at a friends' place, so I'll have to do it later.

Here, however, is a camera photo (hence, the low pixel count) of the same part on another machine.

    piece.crop.jpg

The lower push rod is also broken, but is just seems to be a problem of adding weight to it. I snipped the head off a nail, and taped it to the rod.

PS: I have lots of model B spare parts, and extra tupils and things, if there's anything you need, and you want to swap. Or, I can buy it from you.

Also, eBayers with non-working machines should take a lessons from the guy who sold me this. It's a fixable machine, pretty clean, with an interesting face, and I also got about 300 marbles in the deal, for $25 (20 for machine, 5 for marbles). There's a guy trying to sell a machine on eBay for $109, that looks like it's been underwater for several weeks.

The line is usually whether or not your utilities are paid.

I hate to do this, but can you take a picture that shows a bit more of the area around the break? I have my parts machine out and need more detail of the area to compare.

    broken piece.jpg

Here's two views. This is pretty much the way it sits in the machine. It pivots on a rod that fits through that hole. An e-clip holds it in place. There's a nub on the backside that fastens to the part it sits in front of, and it o-clips to that. I took off the paperclip I had taped to it that functioned as a gate in order to take the picture, but obviously it operates the (missing) ball gate, because the paperclip and electric tape jerry-rig that was pretty half-assed worked well.

This machine has a very cool face, and is a model A, my only one right now, so I'd really like to get it working.

OK... I think the same part on my parts machine is an exact match. Take a look at the pictures and let me know if you agree.

PM me your mailing address if you think it will work and I will send it out in the mail on Monday.

It does. I will do my best to pull the parts tonight when I get home from work and mail them out tomorrow.

Nothing is missing. Those are good parts. I have broken ones; he's sending me the non-broken replacements.

Just brought the mail in, and it came today. Thank you, thank you so much. I haven't installed it, as I said, I just now brought in the mail, but it looks exactly the same, except the whole part, if that makes sense. What do I owe you?

Glad to hear it arrived safely.

No charge. I'm a "pay-it-forward" kind of guy. The folks here at PachiTalk have done the same for me in the past, and now you will do the same for someone else in the future.

Please make sure to post updated photos once you get your machine put back together and working again.

The new parts are perfect, and I also got the lights wired up today. I have an incandescent for the payout light, which flashes over a multi-colored set of plastic shields, so it looks pretty cool; it's powered by a 9V battery. The empty-hopper light is a flashing LED, powered by a lithium coin battery. These are completely separate circuits. The machine was missing half the wires and sockets it needed, and the leaf switches were a mess, but I had better leaf switches, and also mini-reed switches, which work really well. The crucial thing was the grommet for the socket behind the payout light, and it worked, so I was in business.

It turned out the top hopper tray was held on by staples, and they were loose. I pulled them out, drilled holes, and put in screws. The "hopper empty" light wasn't working well with the tray at a funny angle when it wasn't secure against the side of the back wall of the machine.

It plays well. It needs a good cleaning, feet, and a new glass, but the small crack in the current glass is below the play-field, so it can wait.

    Will get pix ASAP.
