Default Screws for tulips and other playfield parts - what/where to get

    Hi,

Does anybody know what size and where to get screws for the playfield parts such as tulips and pockets for a comet II? Mine have some rust and would like to replace. They are small and not sure what to get or where.

    Thanks!
    Mike

I'm not quite sure where to get them. I know member Jeff has before. If I recall correctly they should be 2mm.

Thanks both! I will check to see how the heads look, I cannot remember. I know the ones for
the chrome door frame I had a couple that were bad but they are larger. If they are not salvageable, I will send a message to Jeff to see if he remembers where he got them. I just put
the new background on tonight and punched
the holes for the nails and will start putting them back in tonight or tomorrow night.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

I use only stainless steel https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-De...x?product=9883 for playing field and https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-De...x?product=2250 for the chrome frame.

At my local Ace Hardware, they stock brass, Phillips head screws. The head height is slightly more than OEM.

    #2 x 3/8" ( or 1/2" if the hole is stripped )

The same as Cardwii in regards to stainless for the most part. I rarely reuse the factory screws-they're the epitome of cheap and not designed to ever be removed. For the rear I use all stainless and for the front pockets and stuff I'll use brass screws and/or stainless. Either way its cheap and the factory screws aren't worth the hassle to clean to me. I bought a large assortment of tiny brass screws online a long time ago and for the SS fasteners I just go to the local hardware store.

Thanks all! I will go with the link cardwii provided. My local hardware store is lacking to say the least. Rather than drive all over searching I will just order it online now. I don't want to wait for it but would rather that than trying for a week semi-locally to find and then buy online a week later when I cannot find it. ;-)

    thanks again!

I know what you mean. I needed 3/8" acrylic for a project. Nobody carries it locally. I ordered it on line and had it delivered before the local glass shop could get me a quote, and got it $20 cheaper. I try to support the small, local business, but I have to get stuff done, too.

If I can get out to the shop tonight, I'll get the name of the place I order my small stuff from. They have an incredible selection of tiny stuff, including cap screws and hex head wood screws.

Yep I do too but unfortunately very hard to find stuff locally anymore. Sad but true

Damn, #2 size? That is tiny. #6 is the smallest I can find at my normal hardware stores Ace/Tru-Value. They work fine for the door frame and the majority of the back mechanism. I could use a few #2's for my tulips - mine are stripped and/or rusty.
