Default Aripachi machine Taito National Richi Ball AKA Arrange Ball

It’s an Taito National Richi Ball with a mahjong theme. I acquired it as part of a lot and know very little about them. It does power up when plugged in and plays. It looks complete as far as I can tell, other than some missing bulbs. It does function, but I don’t know if it is functioning properly all instructions are in Japanese. The mahjong tiles light up when I drop a ball in to that number slot. I am including 16 balls and 10 coins but I don't know if that is what is requires. I really don't know about the machines and how they work. See video on playing this machine. It looks like it been stored in a shed and can use a good cleaning. I just want them out of the way.

Would you mind dropping a ball into each one of the slots and then letting us know if it pays out after you drop in another coin. Thank You Don

And other than a stubborn button in need of a tuneup it works wonderfully

Also I had to add three new lights ( turns out lumina bulbs in the holder work perfect)

    Hey Alpha,
That tax/license sticker isn't the date of manufacture. The year is expressed in the "Showa" calendar which dates from 1926-1989.
Somewhere on your machine there may be a date in the format like the picture below which was taken from a Taiyo machine of mine. Adding 25 to the Showa year will give you the date you're looking for. In this case, this particular Taiyo has a manufacture date of September of 1976.

After winning this i drove up to Tulsa since I didn't trust the shipping companies with this specific machine, and other than a couple of dead bulbs and some sticky buttons it works wonderfully!
It plays like a normal Arrangeball machine but with this particular design, all the numbers from 1 to 16 have a duplicate somewhere on the board and therefore light up two spaces instead of one ( the mahjong theme is purely cosmetic)you can see the numbers under the tiles ImageUploadedByTapatalk1387853798.836189.jpg

The rules show the numbers each row consist of and what you get paid for that lineImageUploadedByTapatalk1387853997.350028.jpg
The bottom four rows pay 1 coin each, the fifth and sixth row pay 2 coins , the seventh row pays 3, and the eighth row pays 10

whenever you get a ball in the "star" pocket above the center display it gives you the chance to choose one number (using the corresponding button ) out of the 2,7,12 or 16 in order to help complete a horizontal row ( both spaces with that number will light up)
This bonus can also carryover to the next game if you dont choose to use it,
But it can only be used once per game

If you can complete two rows with the bonus number it pays the highest of the two ( but during normal play you can combine rows with a maximum payout being 10)

a couple of the buttons are sticky and you'll see me struggle with them slightly

So in that respect its essentially the same as other arrangeballs such as my Taiyo "Flags" in that you have the option to utilize the bonus when its most beneficial. If not, it carries over. Ive seen multiple machines with an option to select 1 of 4 numbers like this but the Taiyo I refer to has a bonus that activates 3 numbers at once, so it can help a little or a lot.So for your richi ball, does the player need to know how to play mah Jong or is that just the theme on the matrix as opposed to the more usual numbers? I guess I should watch the vid. Very cool machine!

Interesting, I asked about the mahjong aspect as your above post was not visible and now its before my question.
Thanks for the clarification. I think my mechanical mah Jong arrangeball does require the player to know the game. One of these days I'll learn how to play...

thanks emmadog! The mahjong them is just that, "a theme",
but that doesn't diminish the entertainment value I'm receiving from it

I now truly know why your hooked on these, its very fun to play and require strategy

Your mahjong machine is amazing and I cant wait to find out more about it

Yes, it's hard to go back to typical vintage pachinkos after you own an arrangeball. There was/is no going back for me. Wait till you get your Taiyo on Tuesday, I think you'll be well and truly hooked once you get that gem.
