Should there be a crosstab for shipping there? Some of the sales may seem low or high but be balanced out by the shipping cost being abnormally high or 'pickup only' so non-existent.

Cool chart. There's a similar one out there for pinball machines.

I love how you keep track of that Bill. It is always good information to know. Plus it lets you see that prices are going up and these machines are becoming popular once again.

    100 machines and counting...

In the early days of my addiction, I purchased several machines on eBay. Overall, the condition of the machines was fairly poor, and I overpaid for them. That said, the one machine that I really wanted ended up costing me $20 + shipping. It's been several years since I bought on eBay, and barring something exceptional, I don't see that trend changing. I rarely look at the eBay inventory, but when I do, I rarely see anything interesting. IMO, the real deals are on Craigslist.
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

I've definitely found my best stuff on CL and YJA. Come to think of it, I don't have any machines currently from eBay. However, the prob with CL is getting sellers to ship and/or accept some sort of electronic payment if shipping is necessary.

Shipping is definitely an issue on eBay. Many sellers don't want to deal with it, and offer pickup only. As such, unless they have an extremely attractive machine, they could probably do better on Craigslist. Those that offer shipping often underestimate the difficulty of shipping such a cumbersome object and as such, often package it poorly. Simply put, I'm no longer much of a fan of Pachinko on eBay.

I don't discount eBay entirely although it rarely has a pachinko I'm interested in. For a typical vintage, I'd just go with CL since vintages are so common. I still say though that you can bet on a CL seller not planning on shipping whereas an Ebayer knows the audience is nationwide. Whether its eBay or CL, I tell the seller to have UPS or whatever shipper do the packing. Shipping is just part and parcel of collecting for me. YJA beats them both IMO.

What are typical cost paid for a craigslist machine? Do people usually come down on their asking prices?

    thanks!

Anywhere from free to a hundred or so. It's all over the spectrum but maybe 50 or so for a typical vintage. If its an arrangeball or other rare, sought after machine then the seller will get more offers and the price goes up. Capitalism, basically and enhanced by the ability to do nationwide CL searches.

From what I see by tracking this over the last two years is that the number of vintage pachinkos sold on ebay have drop steadily while the average price has stayed about the same between $100 and $120, and you would think that the fewer sold would bring the average price up steadily? I think the supply is falling off at the same rate as the demand.

    Is the number scale 0, 2, 4, 6, etc? I don't think it would be 0, 20, 40, 60, right?

I'll just clue everyone in. I have never paid over $40 for any normal vintage machine (even some rare machines). Most I spent on a craigslist buy was $100 on a power flash. Also most the time I have bought several for less. Best one I got was $10. (but the machine was really rough).

i actually just bought one on eBay for 99 cents and the shipping was 34.50 so cost not bad. It looked like everything was there as best I could tell. Hopefully that is the case. The machine I am guessing went unnoticed because it was listed as planko pinball not pachinko. I happened to see it and grabbed it. We will see when it arrives if I am a sucker or not. Wish me luck.
