Default Ayumi Hamasaki and Ghost in the Shell

So, having landed my first pachinko (well not literally, still planning the pickup road trip) I suddenly felt the urge for getting it a friend - or two

For nostalgic reasons I'd like to get both an Ayumi Hamasaki and a Ghost in the Shell game but before I go and do something stupid - like buying them off YAJ I wonder if someone knows if any of the two falls below the 20 kg mark? I find all sorts of data on the games but no info the weights I do realize it's not the most common piece of info anyone looks for

Gawd it feels fresh being a total newb - so many new stupid questions I can ask and not feel embarrassed about it

Thanks in advance oh ye pachinko gods

Well nothing wrong with buying from YJA. Says the guy whose brought 8 machines that way. But under 20kg. No chance. These will be nearer 40kg. My sea story clocked the scales at 43kg. I'm mobile at the moment. But can post you a link to a company that has good rates with FedEx. That might be a way forward. Or ask dragonfly amusements if you can preorder one for their next delivery from Japan.

Was afraid of that I've been using both Rinkya and SMJ for arcade related shopping from YAJ but anything passing 20 kg becomes ridiculously expensive to ship. So yes, finding reasonable shipping solutions would be appreciated

I've been in touch with Jan about a bulk deal but didn't ponder about the possibilities of asking him. Though shipping from NL to Sweden would still set me back about 200€ for one game so I'm not sure if it's the way to go.

    It's a real shame Sweden is so...pachinko-less

    Like all the Euro Countries

Anyhow, Juno has been know to ship pachis in multiple boxes to get around the 30Kg weight limit, But I do wish sometimes he would package things better.
I was going to try these guys

Purchasing Japanese items and delivering straight to your door!|FROM JAPAN LIMITED

I used their price calculator for you and on a pachi with a purchase prices of 20,000 yen, with 2500 yen internal shipping. A weight of 40 KG in a box measuring 90x60x30 cm
They say the total price using fedex (not including import duty) is 2818.70 SEK - 316.20 euros (rough estimate)

I haven't used this service, But intend to do so in the next 2 months for a slot machine

Packing *sighs* Don't you just wish sometimes you could go there and pack the stuff yourself?

I registered with From Japan after checking Dave's comparison between the proxy services a while back. They're cheaper than the others (waay cheaper than some) but I didn't get their deposit rules and the difference between FJ's and SMJ's fees wasn't big enough for me to make the move

I'll check with SMJ for a rough shipping estimate, though I fear it's not gonna be as cheap.

SMJ will not touch pachinkos or pachislos. They wouldn't even buy 5000 balls for me.

From what I can make out from FJ website, You place your full deposit with them then bid, If you don't win then don't bid on anything else, they refund your money back after a week, Unlike SMJ where you pay a deposit which they keep and can then bid up to 5x your deposit.

That's odd. I was in touch with them about CRT's for candy cabs and the only thing they mentioned was that it would be expensive (which I already knew). They also brag about how good they're at handling guitars and other delicate items.

I like the deposit style SMJ runs with. Gives room for improvisation (err, impulse shopping ). Planning ahead, especially on auctions, is kinda incompatible with my personality Best of course would be doing your own bidding and having someone in Japan acting middleman for payments and shipping.

We'll see. I just emailed them.

Pre assembled or you build and paint models yourself? I'm about to clear out most of my garage kits in a near future

Got a reply from Nick at SMJ.

"Yes we can handle them, but shipping on such a large one would cost an incredible amount.
We would need to use UPS or FedEx freight which would easily exceed an 80,000 yen shipping charge.
I've seen the cost go over 100,000 yen for just shipping alone on some of those."

Now that's curious since he estimate shipping for a CRT monitor (way heavier, bulkier and fragile) to be roughly 60-80k yen

I wonder if that's their polite way of telling me they don't want to touch pachinkos??

Same response I got years ago. Plus that and not wanting to ship 5000 balls. I did not bother them. Also note. That if you or I go to FedEx and ask for a quote for a 40kg machine. You like get an estimate of £/€1000 upwards, just the shipping alone. FJ must get one heck of a discount.

They sure must have. I've emailed them just to confirm their shipping estimates. They manage to get FedEx even cheaper than SAL! I will deffo be using them for planned purchases from now on. Even an arcade monitor suddenly became a possibility

Just out of curiosity, how much does 1000 balls weight?

If you do use FJ. Make sure you do a review of the service, Good and bad, how it works and if you can, overal cost. As I said. I hope to use the service either in December or Janurary.

After a few more emails back and forth to FJ they've confirmed the shipping estimate. What they couldn't say was if a pachinko falls into the "over sized" category. They need to have the unit on hand for deciding yes or no. The catch? Over sized items gets an extra 5.000 yen charge

So, who wants to be the guinea pig?

Oh cool. Good thread. I'm gonna pic up a pachinko locally first with all the props needed so I'll get to get a feeling for what I'll be looking for before picking up one from YAJ
