    Default Plastic Flap Blocking Balls

All - I noticed that the chute that directs jackpot balls to the lower tray is blocked by a plastic flap for a New Gin that I have (see photo). I haven't noticed a large impact to overall play - it looks like this chute is used if the shooter feeder tray overflows, the jackpot balls can go to the lower tray. I studied the New Gin restoration video I bought from VintagePachinko and it looks like a plastic part to hold the flap up and open has broken off. My question is, do I need the flap? It looks like it is shielding the metal wire going into the chute but wasn't sure. I think it would be easy to construct and glue a plastic piece to keep the flap up but I'd like thoughts from you all before I did anything. I appreciate any help! In parlor play when there is an opportunity to win 1,000 or more balls, that mechanism was needed to shut the machine off until the player emptied both top and bottom trays when they were full to prevent the machine from jamming up. In home play, I have yet to see enough balls won on any of my machines to trigger that mechanism.

In my opinion, that flap is not needed for home use.

take a look at this ..

Model "B" how to - YouTube

at about 3 min 15 sec in is the point your looking at...

    also

the bals that are stuck on your machine should not be stuck there.. the only time ball would be seen at that point is (as jacksje4 stated) is when the top winner tray is full and then the bottom tray is full they will start to back up... your are not backing up there stuck...
