It's not really a complicated concept. Ask a few questions about how you view yourself, tot up the results and then give you a summary of how you view yourself. It's pretty obvious you'll agree with the results (unless you lied when answering the questions).

Whether the results are useful for any other purpose than self-amusement is another matter. How you view yourself internally can be very different to how you actually behave, as you may exaggerate traits that you aspire to and suppress those which you don't like about yourself while answering the questions, and when answering a quiz like this as part of a recruitment process, there's always going to be an element of 'what do they want to hear?'.

    BTW I got a score of 34.

Here's where I go from a horse to an ass. I could not answer 4 questions:

    3. When talking to people, you...

    N) stand with your hands behind you, or resting upon a nearby object.

    4. When relaxing, you sit...

    N) with one leg extended, and the other leg bent, not crossed.

    6. When you go to a party or social gathering, you...

    N) make an entrance, not loud or quiet, greeting the first person and making conversation with them.

    7. When you're working or concentrating very hard, and you're interrupted, you...

    N) Acknowledge the interruption, but direct only 50% of your attention to it.

So the problem with these tests is that there is an attempt to categorize somebody as quickly as possible, using extremes to compensate for thorough analysis.

Who here has taken the Briggs-Meyers test, based on the Jungian personality test? Around 100 questions, which characterize you into one of 16 personality types. Because of the number of questions, best guesses to early questions are clarified by later questions. It will take a while to find it, but I will post a link to the REAL personality test.

And unlike this test, which uses Dr. Phil as some sort of validity, there is no good or bad personalities in the Briggs-Meyers test.

And really, do you give a thit what Oprah scored?

I have forgotten how this test (or typing document) has been monetized. Seems the only way to get to the real test is to pay for someone to do an assesment of the results. You can do this yourself, as there are plenty of links to lengthy descriptions of personality types.

Of course it is not perfect, but it does give food for thought. I made a career change according to my test results. I wish I could remember what it is.

So, there are many versions of the test out there for free. This is the one I could find with the most questions. Sadly, it is a yes/no type, which the real test is not.

    Anyway, have fun!

If you take the test, you will learn what personality type you have. You don't get a score. No right or wrong types. I posted those links as an assistance to whomever.

It took me a while to find those links. If I just wanted to post links, I could on various topics, and it certainly would have required less effort.

I'm not saying anyone has to take the test, I merely provided this information to give those an alternative to the simplicity of the Dr. Phil or whoever it is this week test.

So just take a look. You don't have to share what your personality type is, as it is of no consequence to anyone else. No type is good or bad, no type is better than any other type in the grand scheme of things. The benefit is to you, so that you can better understand yourself.

And if you absolutely must know, when I took the test in 1996 I was an INTP. I took it again more recently and was an ENTP. Quite a shift. A lot can happen over 15 years.
