Default Correct tulip function on my Comet II

    All,

I had a question on tulips. My center tulip does not seem to function properly. I was testing it by dropping balls in them as the machine right now is being taken apart, just wanting to know what works and what does not. The other tulips if the tulip is closed and you drop a ball in they open, the center does the same. On the others if they are open and you drop a ball on one of the petals or in the center they close. On the center one if you drop a ball on one of the petals it closes but if you drop it on the center it does not. What could cause that? How would I fix that?

    thank you,
    Mike

If I understand your question correctly, sounds like it is functioning correctly! If tulip is open a side entry will close it...normal. if open, a normal tulip will close from a center hit as well. However, there are "special" tulips that stay open on a center hit. This is caused by a "bump" on the inside that bumps the ball to the rear, where it falls on the part that opens it.model A help 825.jpg Kind of a reward for hitting a center pocket. Not sure about yours...but I've only seen this where can't go down the center unless you go through the center feature.

Pachiwall's description is how Mr. Toad's tulip looks to me... Nothing wrong with tulip, it's functioning as designed...

Good question though! Have seen a lot of tulips like that and never observed that in play, doh.

Thanks both! I am glad that it is working correctly. I assumed since it was not working the same as the others there was an issue. It is good to know one less thing to worry about.

I have and made some progress. I have the front of the cabinet stripped down and the shooter assembly off completely and working on cleaning it all. Really looking forward to playing again...
