    Unhappy Stuck Reel(s) - Sammy

Naturally this had to happen after hours - just as the weekend is ready to start.

Hit a BB on my Sammy King Camel. Ran out of tokens, got the HE error. No problem there. Opened the door, refilled the hopper, closed and reset.

Now the problem. When I pushed the joystick, the left reel refused to turn, the right reel hesitated, jumped and turned some. I stopped all reels and checked the reels by turning them manually a fraction a turn. Tried another spin. Left reel spins like it should, Right reel spun for one turn. Now the right reel won't spin at all, and the machine has a sort of "stuck motor" hum.

I notice the buttons at the bottom of the reel cage are loose. Because of my handicap (no hands) I can't check or tell if they are supposed to be loose, are spring loaded or what.

    Any ideas, y'all?

Will they spin with the door open?

Is it possible that when you refilled the hopper you might have bumped the reel cage? If you hit a BB, apparently they were okay a little while ago, right?

The buttons at the bottom of the cage aren't spring loaded, but they do firmly snap into the metal rail behind them.

So, like Tulsa said, if they spin with the door open you don't have a bad motor. You just need to nudge the cage back where it belongs and pop the buttons into the holes.

    I hope this helps.

If I read in another post that you purchased this from Eric then give him a call or shoot him an email. I doubt there's much he can do over the phone at this point. Sounds like you might need some new reels for that slot. Good thing is, it has a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, I got it from Eric. I have no doubt whatsoever that he'll do everything in his power to fix it, just not on a weekend. I was hoping for a "quick fix" though, you know, twist that doohicky there and it's cured.

I hate sounding dumb, but what is Eric's e-mail address?

    Many thanks, Tulsa.

BTW, I just checked the KC again, and the reel sticks with the door open too. I can give it a little nudge and then it spins fine.

    Hey folks,

I have no experience fixing these machnes. However, if I understand Tony correctly, he said the stuck reel will spin if he gives it a little nudge. If that is the case, it would seem that it may be binding on something that may prove to be simple once it is found. That is not much in the way of help, but I would keep looking at the reels and cage housing for something that may be twisted or whatever.

    Best wishes,
    Dave Wile

Just a quick update on the sticking reel on the King Camel.

We (my nephew and I) talked to Joseph at PP and within 20 minutes he figured out the problem. A hidden broken wire in the harness to that reel! I NEVER would have thought of that.

New harness already on the way!

    Thanks y'all!

Thats great! How did the wire get broken? Was it pinched in shipping, perhaps? Could you see that the harness was damaged or pinched?

I have no idea how that wire got broken, Don. It wasn't pinched or crimped that we could see. Especially since it was broken IN the little connector above the reels. I think it was just something that may have happened at manufacture and only now showed up.

When Joseph was telling Kyle what to do, and he reached for that connector is when the wire just fell out. It was not a cold solder joint, since no wire was sticking out of the insulation at all. I don't know how close the top small reels come to those main reel connecctors when you close the front, but that too may have caused the problem if they are very close. I just don't know. But it was after refilling the hopper that the problem started.

Now that I think about it I'm inclined to think that that was the problem, especially since the door has a tendency to drop about an eighth of an inch when opening it. Something else for nephew to fix, adjust those hinges.

In any case, perhaps if someone else ever has this problem we'll all be better equiped to render aid! Who knows, it may happen to other 6 reel machines and we'll be ready to help.

BTW, it was the black wire on the third reel on the circut board connector, not on the reel cage itself. If anyone has one they will know exactly where to look.

There was another thread the other day that Tony left a thumbs down on and I changed it to a question mark because the thumbs down didn't fit the question.
