Default My First Attempt At Two Wall Mounted Cabinets

here is my first attempt at a couple wall mounted cabinets. i basically looked at everyones cabinets on the site and tried to copy what i liked about each. i made the top ball compartment with plexiglass front panel and a hinged top on them. i added some 9v LED lights coming out of the area under the ball ramp in the top compartment. i will add some clear colored laminate over them so it puts out a red glow. i also added a narrow LED in the bottom shining down into the ball cup illuminating it. i added two 12 inch red LED strips, one on top and one just under the machine and i have them hooked up so when the jackpot light momentarily lights so do the two sets of red LEDS.
i have made up some pull mechanisms to open the cabinet. it is a piece of all thread with a hook on the end to catch the spring mechanism and pull it down and disengage it allowing me to open the front panel.

Thanks everyone! I still am not totally happy with everything. But i will keep the same dimensions for the uniform looks. I am trying to get all the bells and whistles in order before i show it in a video. I am working on a push button system to turn on the overhead spotlights at the moment. And i am waiting on my cherry switches to finish out the pay out light show.
Are modern machines basically the same size?

Also looking for a couple of 30 inch swivel stools to go with it.

Yea i found that out with the two machines i used. About 3/8 inch difference in width. I have been very happy with the Yuki machine. It works extremely well and had only a dust and dirt issue when i got it for $30 along with the Mizuho machine next to it!

Very nice. I'm not sure why you would call it an attempt when it's clearly a success!

in the fifth picture you see the bottom drawer open and my ball catcher. it is hard to se in the picture but i put a little 9v LED shining down into it. also just above the drawer you can see the LED strip light that lights up on pay out. just got to work out that pesky hanging up of the payout arm. the micro switch i am using needs too much tension to push and release successfully each time. When my new shipment of gadgets and gizmos show up saturday i will have it purring like a kitten!
has anyone ever tried to attach some kind of audible device to the payout to go with or replace the bell? i like the bell a lot and respect the history of it but i would like some more subtle sound to compliment it.

Have tried residential doorbells and mp3 players. Difficulty, for me, was achieving the correct volume; doorbell was too loud and buzzy, mp3 player was too quiet.

Old EM pinballs used solenoids and metal chimes, was a pleasant sound and about correct volume.

Modern Casinos have a "ding" sound that seems to be a people-pleaser.

maybe if i just dazzle them with lights the sound will be of little consequence!

Nice work AG! I really dig the transparent hopper on the top of the machines. The lights pointing directly onto the playfield are a great addition...it bothers me tremendously when looking at a poorly lit board.

BTW, what are the red knobs on the side?

I agree with you AG; while i respect the limitations of the time, i think a little more than the bell is needed. During the dark days of this Illinois winter, I'll be working on my pachi to add .WAV and .MP3 music. I hope it works, and I'll let you know if I come up with anything that works.

The red knobs on the side opens up to allow the balls to go from the top into the top ball tray. I stole the idea from a member here. S2
