Default Need some help from a UK member

I am looking at buying an English Ford Thames 400E Van. The only thing that has me sorta worried is getting parts. I found a place here in the US that specializes in Ford Anglia and other 100e which works fort the most part but there are some parts they don't carry (such as front suspension, steering column stuff, don't know what else.) Anyways I was wondering if any of you UK people know anyone who has a good source of parts for these. I've already found this guy and sent him an email Classic Car Spares, Classic Water Pumps, Classic Brake Spares (won't get a response till next month though because he is on "holiday".)

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    -Max

Oh and here is a pic of the van I'm looking at.

(it was originally white according to the tag.)

Also any knowledge on these would be helpful.

Its called that is out of my price range. Also I want something different that you will most likely not see another for a while. Plus this thing has just as much power. (might replace the engine in the future if I get it).

im all up for the strange and unsusal.. but if your looking for something different ya found it... my advice would be to get a mid 60's Ford Econoline. Chevy ?? or a dodge a series van.. and both ford and dodge made there vans into pickups for the ultra strange..

the van pictured above is cool but importing parts (even from a friend) will cost ya a ton...

im sure ford and chevy have the same options but puting a v8 into the dodge A series is not hard .. Ma Mopar had factory v8's but there geting hard to find

best of luck to ya no matter what ya end up with..

u would almost bet this one was original v8.. its got the big rear diff for a 8v hint hint.. a nice built 360 crate motor would make this short wheel base haul Pachinko

My advice would be to get in contact with an owners club over here. They'll know the best places to get parts and are usually happy to hear from overseas owners of their vehicles, though some of them will try and pressure you to join their club before they give any advice.

Most marques have dedicated owners clubs on this side of the pond, and while most of them are run out of sheds and spare bedrooms, the people in them are goldmines of information about their cars and a lot of them are involved with remanufacturing or sourcing old stock spare parts.

I was actually first looking at A100. Only problem is everyone around here thinks ones in bad shape are worth gold. I mean granted an a100 pickup when done up right can be worth 25-30k it takes a lot to get it there. I may end up just getting an a100 if it becomes a pain to get parts for this. Don't want an econoline as I don't think they look that good on the front and don't want a Chevy because of the corvair engine in them.

I have contacted the owners club over there and am waiting for a response.

Oh I think you mean the GMC handivan. Those are kinda hard to find.

The Thames has a single side door on the passenger side. (keep in mind it is right hand drive.)

MAX...did you decide to buy or pass? If the price is right, and you can get the imported parts (even if pricy), then I hope you get it. What an awesome ride that would be!

I passed. The seller was too flakey. Plus started thinking about it and found out there was too much that had been changed on that van. I think I'm going to keep my eye out for an A100 instead.
