    Thumbs down Shafted by Paypal!!!

so much for seller protection with Paypal

I sold an item for $11.95 in April

in May I get a notice a chargeback was made by buyers c.c. company

I contacted buyer and he said he would call c.c. company and fix it

I sent Paypal proof of shipping and delivery of the item

today I get a notice that chargeback was completed for buyer and $11.95 was taken from my account

I've been checking online and some sellers get socked with a $20.00 fee for Paypal dealing with the c.c. companies

I hope they don't tack that on later!!

I emailed the buyer and asked him to send a postal m.o. for $11.95

    its worth a try

What did PayPal say the reason for the buyback was? They didn't except your proof of shipment and delivery? I'm all for buyer and seller protection, but there should be a burden of proof required from both sides before paypal makes a decision. If it is discovered that the buyer committed fraud, I hope PayPal comes after them for all collection fees.

PayPal can't survive if no sellers accept it as a form of payment.

they don't actually deal with the buyer if he uses a c.c. for paypal payment, they deal with the c.c. company

if he had paid with regular funds, I wouldn't lose money, paypal would take the hit.

That's unfortunate. Paypal should not automatically make the seller take the hit. Now you are out the money and it's costing you time and effort to get payment for something you have sent in good faith. I understand how some sellers are bad apples, and paypal needs to limit their liability, but in this case it seems that you have provided adequate evidence that you provided the service and goods and proper evidence that this was done. Paypal should now either get with the buyer or the buyer's CC company and leave you alone.

Reminds me of the time a friend and I sold a factory-sealed-box internet device on ebay. There were security stickers all over the box. It had never been opened. The winning bidder claimed the internet device was non-functional. Without even communicating with us, he had sent it back, requested a reverse charge from Paypal, and left negative feedback on my friends account. Paypal initiated a refund. The original box was returned, but the internet device was not. The serial numbers did not match what we sent. We disputed the chargeback with Paypal, sent the evidence and forms, but Paypal still went through with the chargeback. Of course the buyer got very negative feedback from my friend. From then on, he would not sell to anyone with less than 100% and would often drop bids if he suspected the buyer was going to be trouble. He also would favor in-person pickup. This limited his buyer base, but he had fewer problems in the long run.

well I had spent all my paypal money, so my balance was minus $11.95

2 buyers paid today, so the paypal bandits took my money

I'll just have to chalk it up to doing business on ebay

Thats why I haven't sold Anything on Fleabay since August 2005 . Ebay has gone into the Negative for getting New Sellers cause of messing with the current Seller .

I still purchase off of Ebay and I always communicate with the seller and give a fair " Star " marks after I receive the goods .

My eBay buying has been seriously cut back because I lost my prepaid Visa that was on file with PayPal. I tried to add another but PayPal would not accept a new card until I was "verified", which translates to: they want me to give them my routing numbers to my bank account. You know...the same bank account that my paycheck is direct deposited to! That was a NO GO, I don't even give my mortgage company my routing numbers! Their only other option was to get a PayPal charge account. I applied...they denied! So now, I contact each seller to see if they will accept ANY payment other than PayPal...such as a prepaid Visa, or a postal money order. Many accept PayPal ONLY, some understand completely and accept a variety of payments. Those sellers often tell me they have issues with PayPal as well...they simply HAVE to use PayPal because they wouldn't be able to sell as much if they "took a stand" and refused to use it at all. I am, however, not as cash strapped as I was, since I can't just buy everything I think I can afford.

well they no longer can pull anything out of your checking account unless you approve the transaction

on a charge back your paypal account would have a negative balance if you didn't have any money in the paypal account

they got a huge lawsuit filed years ago for doing just that, they would put a lock on checking accounts or pull funds out without permission.

many people were getting checks bounced on their accounts!!
