    Yes it is cast iron. I went back to the yard sale and ask the guy where they had gotton it and he said his brother had bought it from japan and sent it over to him years ago. He said it had come with a small pillow that it had sat on but they had misplaced the pillow. It ranks right up their with one of the best yard sale finds I have ever found.
