Default 3D Printed Mini Pachinko/DIY Pachinko

I'm in a middle of a restoration on one of my vintage machines, but I'm never one to only have a single project at a time. DIY pinball is becoming a thing, so why not DIY pachinko? The machines are much less complicated and take up a whole heck of a lot less space.

I'm starting small though, very small. I've designed and printed a small sort of proof of concept mini-pachinko game. It's mostly just to get sizes figured out and what's possible with the printer. It uses standard sized pachinko balls and even makes a pretty decent pachi noise when the balls bounce off the pins. I'm thinking of eventually expanding on this first one and making it modular. Next step is probably just lost ball collection and pay out in the form of returning the ball. Eventually maybe even make a shooter mechanism for it, though I am a bit limited on my print size. I'm willing to hear any suggestions you guys might have as well.

The file is available on Thingiverse if anyone is interested. I have a video and a picture there as well: Mini Pachinko by EhisforAdam - Thingiverse

You heat them up and hope they don't melt off.

Neat toy you got there. But it does need more.

Out of curiosity, what software did you end up using to design that? I'm planning on replacing the center feature in one of my machines as part of a customization project, and am looking at my options.

What is the life expectancy of the pins? (100K, ..., billions? of hits)
Could use this to make replaceable and interchangable center features for vintage games.
Neat idea, and yes why not DIY pachinko.
Maybe the pachitalk vintage community could do a collaborative theme project together.

    Wow...Lotta comments questions:

infiniteblue: Personally, I use CATIA. I work in the auto industry and it's my day to day CAD package, so I'm really familiar with it. The best free package you can get is probably the Autodesk 123D family. There are a lot of different free products from them that are very helpful, including 3D capture: Autodesk 123D - Free 3D Modeling Software, 3D Models, DIY Projects, Personal Fabrication Tools

Eventually, I'm going to make other sections and mechanical parts off of that base design. The pins aren't as strong as they seemed, I broke one with a ball. I think they need to be bigger diameter with a bigger fillet radius to the base. In the grand scheme of things, for a full DIY pachinco machine I'd still do plywood + nails. A long term goal would probably to do a complete model of a mechanism for a machine that could be made with printed and laser cut parts with other various hardware. I'm also thinking of just keeping something small and desktop that's 100% printed. Maybe have the cell made out of 4 parts with ball trays and a simple payout mechanism.

Updated the model and fixed some things and updated it: Mini Pachinko Version 2 by EhisforAdam - Thingiverse

I have both parts up for sale on Shapeways, they do all the printing and do a really good job finishing the pieces. They are a bit pricey though. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/ehisforadam
