Default Cleaning questions for a modern machine

I purchased Macross Frontier and most of the play field is clear. *pic below* It has for lack of better words, a build up of smoke grease so it has a brown tent on some areas. It's not really grease but I have no other way to really describe it. The good news is it is not stained and windex works. The hard part is actually cleaning it. I have seen others posting about brushes but that seems more for like dust to me. I had more success with a q-tip or small sponge but that is tedious. The problem is I can't really hit it with windex and wipe it down due to the pegs so I dip a q-tip/sponge in windex. The problem is that is extremely difficult and can smear due to lack of solid surface contact. Do any of you have suggestions?

Also is there a good way to get smoke out of the machine? Macross has a fan at the handle that activate so when I hit a jackpot and when the front is open it smells of smoke. Luckily there is no smell when closed unless the fan goes off. Any anti-smoke smell help? Thanks!

the best way to get the cell clean is with a pica brush and cell cleaner..

i could never justify the cost of one so i found my own brush.. but the important part is the cell cleaner.. i bought a can or two from member hear its the best...

this is the style of brush i use...

So is cell cleaner better then windex? My fear of a brush is scratches. Thanks for the smell link! Where could I get the cleaner? I'm thinking Amazon or Ebay but I could not find it.

I got a couple of the brushes that Mopar showed in his picture and they work great. If I remember correctly I got a can of the cel cleaner from New in Town (a member here). You might want to send him a PM.

Soft brush won't scratch these games. The brown is smoke tar, the best I've found is 409, but put it on something then apply to the game. Don't want it to run down into mechanisms if you can avoid it. If it's really nook and cranny dirty and your good at taking things apart, 409 and a rinse in the sink really works great, just take lots of pictures first!

I had a new cleaning session today to try out a few things. I learned a lot!

    What I learned:
2in 50mm fine/soft paint brush works great even around pegs
Paper towels leave dust, EVIL DUST!
Blowing out with air helps a lot(especially after learning not to use a paper towel, LOL!)

The brush really helped vs cotton balls/swabs that take forever. The tobacco tar/grease still is not being removed as well was I expected. I used Windex and it works good but the grease is stubborn and I see it taking 2-3 more cleaning session to really get it off with this method. It would not be such a big deal but my cell backing is clear with figures under it. With a brush it likes to smear the grease so I need a other cleaner that will kill the grease but not damage the machine. Any suggestions? Next thing to try a few things to tackle is the tobacco smell.
