Default 1930's British Manufacturing Company Automatic Payout Allwin

I just picked this one up. The seller was asking quite a bit for it but I decided to go have a look at it anyway since it was only a 15 minute drive from my place. I didn't think I was going to get it but after some haggling managed to get him down considerably. The amount was the maximum I was going to go and probably too much but once you're there you're committed...right???riiiiiight??? Or is that should be committed?

The game was manufactured by the British Manufacturing Company and from my research is from the 1930's. It's is called "The Little Mickey" and the mechanism works, it has the original cash box, original lock and key and came with 121 British pennies. The only thing missing is the marquee so if anyone has a British Manufacturing Company Allwin perhaps they could post some all around photos of it with some measurements. The artwork shouldn't be much of a problem to replicate.

    Anyway here are some photos:

I'll make another post with the rest of the photos.

The game is in pretty good condition considering its age.

Here are the rest of the photos:

Really nice find, especially so with the original cash box, lock and keys

and whatever you paid, it was probably a lot cheaper than buying one here

    Congrats!!

At today's exchange rate the purchase price was 312.43 GBP and the asking price was 562.37 GBP, which seems like a pretty good deal as Melvyn Wright's site states that the automatic payout machines from this manufacturer are worth double the value of a manual payout version. I've seen the high prices that they go for in the U.K. so don't feel too bad paying out the amount I did as they're not as common to find here.

Angie, do you know anyone that may have photos and the dimensions of the marquee for this vintage game?

I often look at the Allwins and allwin types on ebay and am amazed at the high prices they fetch, so i think you did really well with your purchase

I don't know anyone with one of those machines, unfortunately the owner of the Penny Arcade at Bridlington, closed up and I don't have his contact details.

I found a link here from someone that actually has a Little Mickey in their collection, can't see from the pics if it has the decorative top though, but lots of info on British Manufactioning company, etc not sure if it is helpful to you

    B.M.Co. Allwins

**edit - just realised this is Mel Wrights website, so you will already have the link**

There was some good information on Melvyn Wright's site for B.M. Co. Allwins and of course exceptional coverage of Bryans machines. The marquee frame should be fairly easy to make, some measurements would be nice but not necessary, just different views to see if it's open or boxed in. There are a few photos on the Internet of the glass artwork so something close to the original shouldn't be too difficult to make.

Now here's a rare (and expensive) Oliver Whales model for sale on eBay UK

I'm looking at it because it has a similar top panel to the B.M.Co models (listing states it may have been a later addition to this one)
but thought I'd give link as it shows good pics of the front and back of the top panel which may be helpful if you are constructing your own

Very nice, even if it was a later edition to the machine it's a good match and looks original. Wow, expensive as well. It looks like they command a good price in the U.K. Thanks for passing this on Angie.

Talk about pricey, here's a Bryans Elevenses on eBay:
