Default Volume control question! Yes, I searched before posting :)

    Hey,

I installed a 10K Ohm Audio Taper Potentiometer which I purchased from radio shack. The thing very sensitive! To the point where only 10% of the actual knob actually changes the volume. Once it is changed, it is so sensitive that the volume often changes during gameplay and or when the system is reset. I had no idea which Ohm rating i should have purchased, maby I should have purchased one with more/less resistance?

I know there is a listing on ebay for these guys:
    vcontrol6pack.jpg

$18.50 shipped is not a bad price, but im really into doing it yourself plus id like to buy local. Ive also seen things called "L-Pads" which are supposed to work great as well.

Does anyone have an idea of something I could pick up locally at like a radio shack or similar to add volume control to the speakers? As a last resort I will purchase the above one from the seller on eBay. Radio shack only had 5K,10K, and 100k Audio Taper Potentiometers in stock my me. What do you guys recommend?

10k is way to much. You really want something like 400 to 1K. Also should be rated at 0.75w or higher. As for those ones. Never used them.

    I know nothing about "l-pads"

i can say for sure that the one listed in the e-bay auction work great and there supper small... if you think your going to be turning the volume up and down each day then lpads might be a better choice.. but the ones pictured are nice and small so there easy to install..

I agree with Mopar and Dr. Dark. I use a variation of those in all my machines.

Volume Controls for Pachislo Slot Machine and Pachinko | eBay

They are a little more expensive but installation could not be easier. Not soldering needed.

    Thanks for the info!

I picked up some of these:

5 x B500 500 Ohm Linear Taper Rotary Potentiometers USA Seller Free Shipping | eBay

I read that people also use cermet type potentiometers, but ill give these a shot. I couldn't seem to find any for sale. The ones that were for sale were just like on/off type switches. Hope these don't burn out!
