    Default New Nishijin Machine

Hey everybody I am new here and just bought my first machine today for $15. My grandpa always had one while i was growing up so I was pretty excited to pick this one up. I have no idea what I am doing but I plugged it in and it all seems to work but the part that shoots the balls. I made sure there are plenty of balls in the places they are supposed to go and still nothing. When I turn the knob I make sure to touch the metal part but nothing happens until I touch the metal around motor and even then it barely moved and just kind of jitters back and forth. Can anyone help me? This is what the machine that I bought looks like.

Hmmm. I don't know. It is not listed as a CR machine. So no dongle. Although does sound like a dodgy connection somewhere. I would start at the shooter knob and check all the connections to the motor, and to the PSU. Check the button on the side of the shooter to make sure its functioning. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Congratulations on a really cool find and, ... Welcome To Pachitalk!!

here's a shooter on what should be a similar,if not identical, frame style

    IMG_0917.jpg
(notice the little black knob that controls the shooter strength (has little white arrows pointing clockwise and counter-clockwise), you should try tweaking that before anything else)

    If that doesn't work
then, like Clam said, start by checking all your wires and connections originating from the shooter area,
and you might even remove the motor to make sure nothing is jammed up in there

sometimes if the machine is exposed to too much humidity over time, the motor can rust inside and become stuck, (have had two from that same era of Nishijin with this issue)
If that's the case, you would need to find a replacment

If possible, post some pictures of your frame and the area around the shooter and we might see something that way

    Hope this helps!

    First off to Pachitalk

I am mainly into vintages but have played around with a few early moderns. I have had similar problems and have been able to fix them. There are a number of things that could cause it.

First of which is to make sure all the chrome plating on the knob is there, otherwise it won't make a good connection.

Second, check your ground wire. Overtime they could become twisted and break internally. So that might need to be replaced.

Third, there is usually a box on the back that encases many small components. That is an anti cheat device (detects if someone wedged in a coin instead of holding the knob.) I have found that those tend to get rather picky overtime. Play around with it and see if you can by-pass it for a test.

I'll try to post a pic of the knob on my machine here in a bit.

Also just curious, where in CA are you?

If you have any questions feel free to ask. And once again welcome to PT.

Alright I took some pictures and did some looking around for you.

    I forgot the Nishijin's didn't have the anti-cheat box.

Instead they have a sensitivity box. Where someone could have possibly turned it all the way down. The adjuster in located in the hole that is circled with yellow paint. I think it is a phillips screwdriver you use to adjust it.

Also you may want to take apart the shooter knob if that doesn't fix it. You want to follow the red, brown, and orange wires. I want to say the brown wire is the ground but I'm not 100% on that.

Also if you want here is the original import manual.

OK I messed around with it a little haven't tried all the things listed yet but have got somewhere. I have got the machine to play but to complete the circut and get the shooter to work I have to not only touch the chrome part of the knob but I also have to touch a metal part on the machine itself, any ideas why this might be. I am about 45 minute drive south of stockton on I5 in a small town named Newman. Also was able to take some pics of the machine so here they are.(hopefully lol)

You have any more luck with this? The pot recessed in the yellow marked hole has those wires that run to a connector saying "touch" (タッチ)... so that definitely controls how much contact you need to make with the metal ring for it to shoot. I had a machine with this same frame for about a month last year. The other knob is shooting strength, though they sort of work together, if memory serves. Adjusting the "touch" will have an effect on the strength, so adjust that first. Turn it (CW or CCW? not sure) until the machine starts shooting on its own, then back it off a little bit (maybe 1/8th to 1/4 turn). Then it should shoot when you touch it. Adjust shooting power to your liking.

If it still won't shoot unless you touch metal on the machine, even if touch is all the way up, then make sure the metal ring on the shooter knob is making a good connection to ground. The connection, and grounding wire (if used) is usually right at the screw that attaches the knob cover to the rest of the shooter. It will be a bit underneath...

Hopefully you already figured this out, but I thought I'd throw this out there.
