Default Need a little help... Really old Ginmasa?

I am restoring an old Pachinko machine for my father in law for Father's day... It is an old Ginmasa, all wood, single glass, no hinge, all brass on the back, and single feed ball drop in. Anyways has anyone ever worked on something like this? Any pics out there of others? I tried searching but came up with absolutely no results. I got the machine all up and working but I do notice I'll have to fabricate a new loosing ball chute as most of it is missing.

I will post pics up in a little bit for you all to see.

I have never heard of the brand but have seen many single shot machines.

You sure it is ginmasa and not ginza or masamura?

Yup, Ginmasa... or at least what I can read on it...

And the broken chute I'll have to fab and solder up:

older machine like that get a buz going.. i have a nice single shot that is a bit newer then yours...

value is hard.. if it were right in front of me and in nice working condition i would be willing to pay a bit more cause of its age,,, some others would be willing to lay out allot more..

mordern machines are to fast for my liking and single shots are to slow... ya ya i know im weird

Neat old machine. Amazing what they could do with what appears to be nothing more than empty beer cans and nails. A crafty lot they were.

I shoot a ball, I have to watch what it does before I shoot another. Guess that puts me in the same boat.

Can anyone explain what this lower sight window is for? The balls never go in there, I am totally lost. There is a lever on the back side of it too, what does this thing do?

    Really cool machine there.

I have never seen that brand before. It has to have been built in the early 50's, like 1950-52.

As for the window there. That is where overflow winning balls would go. So if the player was winning a lot the balls would back up in the machine. And to keep them from backing up into the pockets they put that there to direct the balls out of the path of the payout see-saw. It was up to the attendant in the back to lift those balls back into the see-saw. Kinda hard to explain it but once you know how it works it makes perfect sense.

    100 machines and counting...

Awesome explanation, I totally understand, thank you!

I'm thinking of refinishing the wood and send all the chrome in to be redone... I hope it turns out beautiful!

    Chrome?

I don't see any chrome. All I see is that front tray and it is aluminum so it should polish out nicely.

Same here. I like vintages because they still focus on the pachinko. Moderns are just too much animitronics, loud music and video screens for me. Some of the moderns seem to have very little pachinko left.

But I can't see me playing single shot either. Having to load each ball for me would be a huge pain as well.

For me the pachinko machine development reached a peak with the Nishijin Model A Renpatsu-shiki.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the ball launcher and finger rest (best I know to call it) seem to be rusty, and they may have been plated, tho not necessarily with chrome. A good cleaning (I start with a wire wheel), then polishing could do them a world of good. Getting them re-plated will be a spendy process, if you can find someone to do it.

    Best of luck to you!

    Forgot about those.

But the shooter handle can't really be replated because you can't remove the bearings in it. And the finger post can't fully be replated because the base is made of pot metal (mixture of metal) so the chrome won't stick.

Pot metal is the term, and yes, it can be replated... I do it all the time with trim bezels on 1950 era cars.
