Default Help needed identifying a Nishijin B

Hi everyone, I've been a pinball and arcade fan and have just begun looking into pachinko machines. I've been enjoying reading up on these machines and learning how they work. I just picked up my first unit from a Craigslist post. From my searches I believe I have a Nishijin B unit, although I'm not sure if there's a specific name for this one is or what the year of it is. I'm in the process of taking it apart so I can refinish the metal, polish the nails, re-stain the wood, add in lights, and do other various clean up tasks. I've already found a lot of useful information from the posts I've seen on the forum. Thanks for the great info!

You definitely have a model B.

Something looks amiss in the area of the main ball dump lever and your machine is missing a dust cover behind the center feature and is missing the entire wiring harness and power block. None of these are deal breakers; it probably works as is. Have you tried it?

Looks like a cool machine. Is that the machine from the Orange Park listings?

If so, there are a few of us from the Jax area hanging around. I'm by Oakleaf, and there are others at the beaches.

I really like the center feature on your machine.

The main ball dump lever is disconnected and just hanging there. In my search for a sign of wiring and lighting, I removed the dust cover but do have it. It came with a few balls, and from what I've been able to try appears to be working. I have some balls coming to me in the mail, so I'll be able to fully test it out soon. I think the machine only used two lights, one for the jackpot and one to let you know it needs a refill. I might just wire up a switch and light for the jackpot.

Yes, I picked this up in Orange Park on the way back from St. Augustine. I was looking for a project machine to learn on, and I think this one fits the bill. I'm over near Gainesville. Nice to know there are some Florida folks on the board. I was looking at the 9 Drum Gladiator on Craigslist as well, but figured the music would drive me and my wife up the wall after a few plays.

    to Pachitalk!

What you have there is a 1972 Nishijin Model B (Chevy). I have one of these myself kinda cool how it is related to a car manufacturer. (Even though I'm sure the company didn't agree to it. )

If you have any questions about your machine feel free to ask. And once again welcome to PT.

Thanks Max for helping to identify the unit. I was wondering if the company had paid for custom pachinko machines for an expo or some event. Didn't expect to see Chevy symbols on a pachinko.

Since you are missing all the wiring including the microswitches, this may be of interest to you. Has just about everything you're missing.

Thanks for the link Don! I wonder if I can return all those parts to Radioshack I bought yesterday for the new lights .

I've been working on cleaning up the front of the unit this week and am just about finished. Here's a photo of how it's looking currently.

I still want to repaint some of the tulips and spinners with enamel paint. The posts I found especially helpful on pachitalk were ones related to dealing with scuffs on chrome pieces. I ended up using SOS pads with results I'm happy with. Here's a set of restoration photos I've been taking: 1972 Nishijin Model B (Chevy) Restoration Process Photos - a set on Flickr
