    Smile Mining Cart Cabinet

After seeing a Mining Cart cabinet, on Ebay, I'd thought I'd take a stab at building something similar, for my "Wanted" machine. It's a western theme and thought it would work will with the theme. After working on it this weekend, this is what I came up with. The top part is a mining cart and the bottom part is a lockbox chest. The machine had a payout problem, that myself and another member couldn't figure out, so the machine is now a full cycle machine. So, I didn't have to build anything to add balls to the top or build anything for lost balls to exit the bottom. The on/off power switch is hidden under the front part of the mining cart and turns the machine and upper light on/off at the smae time.

It's all built but still needs finished, (stained and painted).

Here's some pictures of it so far.

They do look like pachinko balls. But they are upholstery nails.

I worked on getting the cabinet finished, over the weekend. Some paint, urethane, lettering and even finished the inside. The machine is "hard wired" into a box mounted in the back of the cabinet, with the power switch and the light, to illuminate the cell.

Now that it's done, I really done know what I'am going to do with it. I already have a "Wanted" machine, in a cabinet, set-up the way I want it. This was an extra machine, I had, and after seeing a "mining cart" cabinet, on Ebay, I just made this version to have something to "tinker" with.

The local Boys/Girls Club has an annual auction to raise money. Business and residents donate items, to auction off. So, I think I'll donate it, to them to help raise money. The machine is "full cycle" so, you really don't have to understand how all the balls are supposed to get moved, you just play it. ("No Brainer").

Here's some pictures of it finished.

I'd say that 'tinkering' was a brilliant success, you created a very nice unique cabinet

I believe I've found a home for this machine. (I'll also still, get play it!)

My brother-in-law stopped by last night and was showing him the cabinet. He said he would love to have something like that, but with 4 small children, he was concerned that the balls would end up all over the house and come up missing. So, if I could make it "child proof" he would love to have it.

I think I have "child proofed" the machine where no balls can be accessed, without opening the front door glass.

First, I covered the top tray with a piece of plexiglas. I left a small access hole in the end of it, so it could be refilled. (under-shot balls or balls drained from top tray to the bottom tray.)

Next, I put a swing gate over the hole, (on the inside of the front door), so if the dump lever was slide over, (and you know with small children every lever or button is going to get played with), the balls would stop and not dump into the bottom tray.

Finally, I blocked off the hole that the "Under-Shot" balls normally follow to return to the bottom tray. There was already a hole, in the reservoir, that they could exit to the bottom tray, if you opened the front door glass. (I guess to clear jams). The reservoir for the under-shot balls is plenty large enought to hold all the balls that are in the machine.

So, the machine now has no access to balls from the front. It doesn't matter if you slide the dump lever, for the top tray, or under-shoot a ball. The machine plays as it normally would. So, if you come up short on balls, they are in the machine. (You can't loose any balls outside of the machine). Just open the the front door glass and all the missing balls can be easily obtained and dumped into the bottom tray and reloaded into the top tray, throught the small access hole.

Here's some pictures of what i did.

You forgot the 3+ year of age warning sticker. You need to have that somewhere otherwise you might find yourself in major lawsuits.
