Default 1968 Nishijin Single Shot - problems

    Hi,

I have just gotten my second machine in a month and it is as best as I can tell a 1968 Nishijin Single Shot recycler with Sophia workings.

It doesn't always pay out, it seems that sometimes, the ball somehow bypasses the "see-saw" and ends up in the lower portion either on the "weight arm?" or just above it on a "half-moon" pivot of some sort.

I seems to be more prone to pay out if it hits one of the side pockets, the center feature and the tulip are more prone to problems.
Also when it is out of balls, the little door does not close in front of the ball hole.

When I got the machine I found it missing the little shaft (near right edge looking at it from the back) that holds the end of what I suspect is the payout chute (just before the bell), I replaced the missing shaft with a piece of paperclip wire.

I can take pictures if need be, or if it would help.

BTW- the first machine works great and as best as I can tell is a 1973 Nishijin Super Deluxe "It's a Beautiful Day"

I had seen only three or four in my entire life.
    Now I have two.
    Neat machines.

I am glad I found this place.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Jeff

Two balls are currently "hung up" on what I believe is called the weight arm.
They somehow seemed to bypass the see-saw.

In image64, the half moon thing can bee seen near the top, sometimes it is to the left and balls end up on top of it.

I can take/post more if need be.

    Thanks.

    Videos helped out tremendously.

    Works better, just not consistant.

Looks like I am missing the jackpot tray cover.
Can I easily make one or where can I get one?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Good luck finding one. I have many Nishijin Model A machines that are missing that part. It always seemed like people played around with them and broke them off, then lost them.

Your best bet is to make your own out of some thing sheet metal.

If you have any questions just ask. And once again welcome to PT.

    Ok,
I have studied the animation and made notes.
I know it is easier to help people when they have some idea as to what they are talking about, thanks for the animation and the patience.

Some times it works fine and pays out, say four out of five times.
Now others, when the ball gets "hung up" it is either on top of the anti-cheat latch, with the latch being towards the left blocking the ball path
or still on the jackpot arm.

I will try to fabricate a cover for the jackpot tray cover.
Does anyone have a template that they have already made that they could share?

Thanks in advance, I am still amazed by these machines.

I made one out of some material call trim coil, used in housing.
    easy to work with.
    Machine plays great now.
