Default Need volume control on Bitsy Frame- Kung Fu Panda- HELP!

    Hey folks,
Anyone know how to wire in some volume controls on this machine. I've done the Lumina frame and the speakers were right there, but this one looks tricky. Don't know which wire to cut in the ribbon cable.
    Anyone know?
    Thanks!

If only it was that easy...a ribbon cable goes behind this plastic shield, which I still can't figure how to get off.

I did find this but no english.

Ok... so which KungFu Panda do you have? Is it based on the V-trigger frame? Or another? I have some pics that can help with the V-trigger frame.

    (I'm looking at this... http://www.fields.biz/ir/j/files/pre...20110106ae.pdf)

the doc you posted isn't for a v-trigger frame...

Just throwing these out there, since I can't find any Kung Fu Panda pachinko other than the v-trigger one...

You can cut into the 4 line-level audio wires at the cell to frame connector. That way you don't have to worry about burning out your pots. But you do need 4... On this frame you can hit the chance button immediately at startup to get a test tone... one from each speaker to set balance.

Here's the scoop in the pics. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I MEAN IT!

These are from a Bisty Eva2 frame... but I've done the same with a regular Sankyo V-trigger and they were the same spots.

Here's a picture. Yes...V trigger. I have a hunk of wires going to the front top two speakers. The bottom ones were easy to figure out and I disconnected them. this sucker is still too loud for me. So which wire to cut? I tried to get underneath this plastic but it will be 100 screws later and I don't want to destroy the machine.

Hey chumsize...I found those wires but I'm a little confused. If I cut those wires, do I put a potentiometer so I can adjust the speaker on those? I'm a little nervous about cutting wires so into the machine. I would rather figure out which wire on the gray cable it is in the front.

Hmm... can't help ya there. No clue which wire is running to the speakers.

About the pics... Basically, if you cut those just attach each of the ends to the two wires run from your pots. In the pic, all of the wires running down to the pots (mounted near the base of the machine) are red. Remember you have 4 speakers on that frame, so each wire I pointed out is just the (most likely positive of the) audio signal. You'll be putting the pot in series in this line. Basically just like hooking it on the speaker, but earlier in the circuitry - pre amp, not post amp.

The pics are from the "factory" volume knob job done by Akimono (or their Japanese supplier) on my Eva 7 machine. I copied those for my V-trigger Sankyo. There isn't much room for error... you'll want good wire strippers and a decent soldering iron. Shrink tubing is great too. I wouldn't trust these to solderless connectors or "twist and tape" jobs.

I decided to attempted to see which one of those wires in the front was associated with the speakers. The first wire (white) I left alone. The second wire I removed and speaker on the right shut down and the fourth wire removed shut off the speaker on the left. I can get to the speakers on the bottom, but I'm considering leaving those unplugged. So two wired in volume controls on top and I should be set. Hopefully I have both positive wires.

cool... shouldn't matter too much which side you get on the speaker (+ or -) the way you're doing it... since its an ac circuit, you're just adding to the impedance of the speaker. Also, if you leave the bottom speakers unplugged, you may notice that some audio elements are very faded or are missing - On the Eva7 pachi, for instance, the upper speakers carry more of the dialog and sound effects, while the lower speakers seem to carry background music. Give it a shot... I may have just been imagining things - I'm totally deaf in one ear.

I thought it was bad to have an amplifier pushing wattage in to your speaker but no speakers there, such as if you unhook the bottom speakers. It takes a long time for the amp to get screwed up but not so easy to fix. My experience is with guitar amps... so who knows! There are people here more knowledgeable than me.

So, here is my technique. Clip multi-meter on speaker positive terminal, go to back of machine and take best guess at correct connector. Usually very close to factory, three position switch, volume control. Test connector terminals for 0 resistance. Don't need power on, no wires cut...

    Anyhow, glad it worked out!

Oh sure...now you jump out here Carl! HA! Where were you 2 hours ago when I was soldering!

Well it worked and my children will not be going death any time soon! I'll consider doing the same on the bottom two speakers.

I really LOVE that machine...and yes...now Starwars seems boring! LOL!
