Volume control on R2D2 Star Wars

Last week I got my Star Wars Pachinko in the mail. It is the one with the r2D2 next to the screen.

My question is, volume control. It has not been modded for volume control, it basicly has a switch with 3 positions; Loud, Louder, and WHAT?

Does anyone have one of these and can point me to / send me a pic so I can mod this so I can play it and still here a train if it smashes through my office at the same time, I kind of don't want to miss that...

Loud, Louder, and Early Deafness are the three official settings.

You could try stuffing cotton wool wads into each speaker (in front) behind the door frame.
Worked for me on some machines that I couldn't alter permanently, quickly.

Brings it down a tad... but perhaps not enough for you.

You can open the front and fit some 500ohm potentiometers but make sure they are rated higher than 0.75w or they burn out quickly

I've been putting these in and they work great! Anything with 10K seems to work.

P.S. But take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm the same one that plugs my brand new pachinko machine into the wall without plugging it into a transformer and blow my circuits!

As others have meantioned you are going to need to install some aftermarket volume controls.

These are the ones I use. 500 Ohm Potentiometer 023-500

i have instaled these on pachinko and pachislo both... there super small and have tons of adjustment... but you will have to solder them in...

I like those too Mopar! Nice and skinny. I bought those and used all them up on my brothers machine.

Funny thing...he has his speakers on the bottom of his machine so when I wired these he said the longer he played the machine, it would get static and then the volume would get louder. Ended up that one of his volume controls fell into his bucket of balls on the back and the more balls...the more they short circuit his speaker controller...making it louder! Funny!

I'll beat the dead horse too! There are already a lot of great replies.

Here are some pictures of the back of my Star Wars machine and where the controls can be placed.
My machine came with these on it.

Next is a picture of the controls on a Julie. These are the volume controls from eBay. I used two different lengths of two different color wires and soldered on the controls. I wanted them to not touch each other in the back, thus the different lengths...
This is on a JULIE, I traced the wires to the back...

i instaled mine right at the speaker.. there was enought wire that i could clip it strip it and solder in.. the double back tame to keep them from moving around... by puting them close to the speakers i did not have to trace were the wires went...

I have pics from Slot Pachinko showing how to their bug connectors which need NO soldering, only insert one wire off each side into the connector. It's on their Galaxy railways which is a Lumina frame hope these help...
My Volume Controls have been working for over 3 years now so I take that as a good sign!

I bought a mess of these a while back... Volume Controllers A Bulk of 10 Skill Slot Pachislo Pachinko Pinball Double | eBay

And they've worked great. Especially for me - as I'm deaf in one ear, its rather hard to judge if balance is at center.. And the nice knob is cool. I just double side tape them to the underside of the power supply and it looks nice.

Still need to find out where to splice in to put volume on my Nishijin Flame frame. It has two volumes: Painful, and "I think the 2% of the nerves remaining in my right ear are picking something up".
