Yes. Replacing the screen is a cel out job. Place it on a soft but not to fluffy material. Some screens come out easy, some need alot of strip down. Take pics as you go for reference. It will make putting back together so much easier.

"Chum" I answered my own question about the lights, yes I indeed had one connection that was not perfect and upon seating it fixed the "kanji" problem lighting up the room! Thanks for any advice and all , but don't see how getting to the screen would be any less intrusive than being in the frame. However I am happy to take any and all advice. I will either be replacing the screen or the whole cell eventually. I am getting pachi fever!

After stripping, repairing and cleaning quite a few modern cels. Its much easier laying flat on a table. than working upright in the back of the machine. Especially the tiny cross head/philips/pozi screws that hold the plastic to the wooden backing. Drop one of them and it could go anywhere. like in to the inner workings
