Default Hello from Washington state. Newbie needs some help

    Hi everyone,
I am a seasoned watch nut, but recently I bought a pachinko machine to start a game room in a new house we are buying. I remember as a kid my aunt had one from Japan, and I would spend hours and hours playing with it when I was at her house. I had totally forgotten about them for decades, then on TV the other day a guy had purchased a bunch of them from a storage auction. It totally sparked my interest again, and I ended up buying one off ebay. It showed up yesterday. The make is heiwa, and it is "The Owl". It is the exact same model on this video.- hewa pachinko pt2 - YouTube

I have a few questions on this. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the things eyes spinning and the top to open up like the guy does in the video. I noticed that there are some bent pegs, so getting a ball in the top of the owl is basically impossible unless you hit the chance pocket and get it to open up briefly. If there just so happens to be a ball about to go in, it can sneak in the split second the chance pocket opens it. That is the only way I have been able to get a ball in the main pocket. I have been able to hit every single pocket so far. I noticed that some of the pegs are bent to make it much more difficult to hit a few of them. So my questions are

How can I open the front up to access the pegs and bend them back? I found the main latch that opens it from the frame, but I can't find a latch to open the front for the life of me.

How do I get the thing into the mode like the guy does on the video? Am I unable to do this because of the blocked pockets? I have only been able to get the ows eyes to spin once or twice, and when I did it I couldn't tell which pocket, or combination of pockets I hit to activate the reel.

I appreciate any and all help in advance, and I look forward to getting to know you guys on this forum.

    -Patrick

the glass should open from the back..

as your looking at it from the back the latch for the glass should be on the left side... if you popst a picture of the middle section left side i know we can point it out to ya...

owennewton is a member hear and you should be able to send him a PM for more info... hes a nice guy.. (i have met him in person a few years back)..

im not good rembering what kind of Pachinko ya have there but it looks like one of thouse (@@@@@@) ones that you have to hit pockes in a specific order.. what that is ???

    of course

    Hey, thanks all.
I figured it out, the latch was just a bit stubborn and needed more force to pop the door than I was using. Now I just have to figure out how to adjust the pins right. My kids have been going nuts over this thing. Last night my ears were ringing from the balls raining down and all the sounds...

    WELCOME!!!

The kind of pachinko you have is known as a kenrimono.. While not as common anymore they are super fun to play.. I wrote a play guide for one of mine a few years ago.. Here's the link, hopefully it can help a little..

    i know these will help..

i like these but you have to solder them in place... easy to do and smaller then a dime..

6 Volume Controls for Pachislo Slot Machine Pachinko | eBay

i think this is the one others ahve used..

they might be easy to use with the leads allready attached but i would still solder them in.. the others are allot cheaper

Thanks alot for all the replies and info. I am going to stary going through it all now.

I ended up fixing the bent pins and am now able to hit the slot machine and get it into all the different modes shown on the video. Pretty cool machine, this may be the start of a new time and money sucking hobby.
