What you need to do is go to the manufactures web site and look at the year that machine came out. Sometimes the frame is used for a couple of years. Then look at the frames that match your machine and you will see the compatible cells. Everything that has the same frame will be compatible.
It's a little bit of a challenge online, but by looking at the pictures of the various titles, you will then be able to see what is compatible. I hope this helps you some!

not quite true as I got stung on the heiwa lupinasu frame that look the same from the front but very different from the rear.

    Isn't Eva 6 the V trigger frame?

Do as above but try and get a picture of the rear of a complete machine

I have the Eva 6 machine, and the frame is based on the v-trigger, although it has some designs specific for the Eva 6, such as upper speaker placement, enhanced frame features, and lighting esthetics.

From what I have observed, the same cells that fit the v-trigger, and v-spark frame (similar to the v-trigger, just no joystick, (i.e.X-files) will work on the Eva 6 frame, however, because the Eva 6 frame has some special lighting etc. not all of the lights work properly.

The game plays just fine, joystick, and Eva buttonwork when needed, but lighting on the frame is not 100% functional.

The Sankyo site will give you pretty good idea of the various machines the have the v-trigger, or v-spark frame.

The most obvious one is the Eva 7, of course... Which does use all the extra features on the frame... (Mission mode countdown, etc). Should be able to get one from YJA via Juno for less than the cost of a full machine. And if the cell swap is as easy as a V-spark (just swapped an Aquarion cell w/my Patrush 3) it takes all of about 30 seconds - two snaps on the front side - no cables to remove/replace.

Saw a (can't remember which) v-trigger cell running on an eva 6 frame on YJA... that was enough for me. Picked up a 3000 yen Macross Frontier Wings cell there shortly thereafter. Should be here in a few days. Yay!

So to put the question at least partly to bed:

image.jpg (Sorry about rotate... On iPad)

lights on the frame are mapped all wacky... The countdown timer takes the brunt of what was likely a mass of rgb led clusters, so they are fading in and out. Chance button doesn't light (probably the only bad thing - need to watch screen for cues), but the joystick gets the full pulsating rgb treatment. And all is functional.

Worth the $400 difference between buying and shipping the cell, rather than buying the game whole new.

And in a few months ill sell the cell... Swell!
    Woof!
