Default I just drove 9 hours to pick up my Popeye Pachislo. Player's Manual online?

I drove from Minneapolis, MN to South Dakota and back and boy I am tired... but I finally got my Mint condition Popeye Pachislo Machine. I was curious if there's any (English) manuals for this game (explaining a rough outline how to get from point A for Point B & C to rescue Olive Oyl, what the balloons mean, how to progress through the story etc.). Also looking for a manual for Sammy's Gameria... I don't know what causes him to wake up from the ocean floor and head for the city to bet up the bad guys.

As with most all Pachislo machines the outcome of the spin is determined by the computer.
Nothing that you do will make any difference, it's a pre-determined outcome. The balloons, on Popeye, tell you of a upcoming prize. Blue=replay, Yellow=3 bells and so on. As most machines blue is a replay, yellow is bells, green is watermelon and red is cherry and most machines will give you a hint to what prize you are about to win.
The same goes for Gamera, is all pre-determined by the computer.
What if...the HOKEY POKEY, is what it's all about?

I'm glad you got an actual machine for 9 hours of driving! The thread title was truncated to "I just drove 9 hours to pick up my Popye Pachislo. Player's Manual" And I was thinking that was quite a drive just for a manual!

What is a reasonable price to pay for a good condition Popeye pachislo?

It's in mint condition. The only thing that seems to be missing is the slot spindle sticker that would be next to the red MAX BET button (seen in stock pics), but who know if it came with one? I got mine for $500 which is very reasonible (seen some go up to $600). I bought it because I'm a big Popeye fan (I'm originally from Santa Monica, CA; birthplace of Popeye). The thing that I really love that it's story oriented with Brutis/Bluto kidnapping Olive Oyl.

I just order Biohazad Pachislo during akimono.com 's big sale. Saved $200 (from $499, marked down to $299). If I had more cash I would have bought Jack & the Beanstalk.

    Hi

Did you find a manual for this machine? I just bought one (had to travel 20 miles to collect it (boy I am tired ). There are some switches and a key inside, to the left of the coin hopper. I'd like to know what they do.

Thanks. That helped a lot. I guess the two switches near the reset key/button are for casino use and are disabled?

My machine is quiet and I have read that they can be very loud like my pachinko machines, I want to turn it up a notch. I traced the speaker wires back to what I think is the sound board near the top of the door and found a 3 position switch (pic) but this does not seam to make any difference to volume. Any idea how I can turn it up?

You probably have some sort of inline volume control spliced into the speaker wires

No. I can see the wires from the speakers all the way to where they plug into the left edge of the sound board (blue and white and red and white twisted pairs (pic)).
I have inline volume controls on my pachinko machines but these are just plain wires.

thats odd. unless there is a volume in the menu functions, but I would have thought the machine was too old for that.
No socks stuck in front of the speakers is there?

Hi Drunkenclam. No, you were right first time, there is a volume control inline. I must be blind or something but there it is!! I'm at work now, I will send you a detailed pic when I get home.

    It's plenty loud enough now.

    Thanks for your help again.

Well, I’d appreciate that as well! I have found what looks like tri-level volume switches on mine (based on other machines I’ve bought) but they didn’t seem to do anything. I wonder where that switch is. But then again, my machine has been modified so if I rotate the ashtray out there is a button I could actually press for spitting out coins. This keeps me from having to open the machine to get tokens if I run out while playing. Wonder if they messed with my switches (or wiring) to install that.

That's a clever little trick. You would need to be able to send power to the motor and disable the the opto sensor so it wouldn't detect the tokens coming out.

Detail attached. This is a much tidier installation than my other machines. On those the volume control just hangs off the wires. I thought this one was a bolt&nut (anyway that's my excuse).

Wish I had a button for tokens!

I will take some photos or maybe post a video to my YouTube channel showing its operation. Thanks! The only issue is that it tends to heat up the inside a lot faster leaving it on all the time. I will take some photos or maybe post a video to my YouTube Channel showing its operation.
